eibach springs

Thanks to the guys at shox.com, my eibach springs arrived today. 30 minutes after unpacking the box, I had the rear springs installed.

Looks great, sits level with no ass in the air look.
Have a question for anyone that has installed the front springs themselves. Can you use a standard macpherson strut spring spring compressor? And do you have to remove the shock from the shock yoke to remove the spring?
Thanks
Sway bars next!!

If your going for the level look why are you changing out the fronts? Two individuals changed out their shocks this weekend at the Tech Session. Silverwolf did his rear first and I thought it looked good level. He changed his front out and he has a slight a$$ in the air look. Maybe not as high as the factory. If I go the shock route I'm not sure if I'm going to mess with the fronts.

They removed the shocks from the car completely and removed the spring while the assembly was in a vise. Not sure what a macpherson compressor looks like. Dan has this tool that made the job very easy. Maybe he'll chime in and tell you what kind it was.

I was the other one that changed their's out this past weekend...but not knowledgeable about the mechanical part while not complaining about the way it now sits, it doesn't quite have it's *** in the air like stock...which I happen to like. It still sits a bit raked, just not as much as before............but those wheels sure fill up the wheel well now

AND the sway bars?????????? AWESOME!!!

I had the eibachs installed front and rear after Christmas and they settle a bit after a couple weeks. My truck looks level without much rake, if any at all.

I've done mine and several others. You will need a spring compressor. Depending on the design, a std strut compressor should work.
You Do NOT need to remove the shock from the yoke. You do need to be sure to orient the studs on the top to the proper direction for the assembly to bolt back in. If you align wrong, you'll be loosening the yoke..

Thanks for the advise. Last sentence is a bit confusing, but will probably make sense when I pull the thing apart tomorrow.
Thanks again

Ok. In more detail.. There are two studs on the top (a nut on the center that holds the stru/spring assembly together) that are used to mount the top to the SSR. They must be in line with the hole in the bottom of the yoke. when you put it back together. Just make note of the alignment when you take them out. The whole operation is not the hard it just takes time to get all the little things..

'Fun' part of the install is the disassembly and removal of the fuse block to get at the top nuts holding the strut assembly in. The area 3 10mm bolts that hold the block case to the body. The one near the front is a real pain to get out and back in. Be sure to disconnect the battery.

If you have any questions you can send a PM or PM me for my cell number.

Installed the spring on the passenger side this evening. The tip on lining up the top bolts and the hole in the yoke was worth the price of membership in this group!!
Has anyone had an issue with the radio locking up after disconnecting the battery? Bought the truck used so I don't have any radio code if I need one.

The radio issue, I can tell you this, you might try where the car was first bought from new, sometimes they use there Chevy dealership # to put in the radios so they don't forget in case that happens. Hope this helps, it happened to me.---Jerry

Sure did. I figured I would concentrate on getting one side replaced before dealing with the fuse box. Shop manual has you literally disassembling the fuse box to get at those bolts!

That is indeed what you'll need to do.
