I just purchased an extended warranty from Miller Motors in Wisconsin. It is a Chrysler bumper to bumper for 7/85,000 miles for $1,495 w/100 deductible. The zero deductible was $1,940.
If over 1 year new then you can pay $150 extra for the warranty.
My SSR: 06 Aqua Blur, #158-23377, Born on 17 Feb.`06

Joe is one of us, guys. He`s a straight shooter and I`m sure is trying to help out his fellow Fanatics. He`s found a deal and is passing it on. I`ll vouch for his honesty and integrity.......Paul
PS: Joe, just drop the check off the next time you`re in town, no need to mail it
You may run into a problem with the GM dealers not honoring the Chrysler warranty. You may have to pay for the repairs and then apply to Chrysler for reimbursement.

No kidding!
if I could get an extended warranty for that price that WOULD cover my SSR I would buy it immediately. Which is why I asked the question Is this for the SSR?
I can't see any way a Chrysler warranty would be able to cover a GM product. But I'm all ears, especially since I have 490 miles left on my 3/36 factory one.
I had a Chrysler Extended Warranty on my Ford F-250. In fact the Ford dealer sold it to me. (This Ford dealer also has 2 Chrysler dealerships). When I did use it, I had to do nothing extra .. the dealer took care of everything just as if it were the vehicle manufacturer's warranty.
Whether every dealer is as accomodating will probably depend on the situation...but I do know Chrysler sells Extended Warranties for other vehicles. And in my case it worked no different than if it was from the vehicle's manufacturer.
For full disclosure, I will note that the servicing dealer (when I used the warranty) was the same one that sold it to me. You may indeed have to pay out of pocket first then get reimbursed by Chrysler.
Must work the same way for those private companies that sell warranties. You take your car in to where ever, they call for approval and as long as your warranty writer approves the repair(s) the repair facility works on it.
yes, it seems to be a fairly frequent phenomenon that an extended warranty is cheaper from an alternate manufacturer. Maybe they see it as a way to get a customer that wouldn't come any other way?
BUT.....are you sure it's really bumper-to-bumper? In particular, how confident are you that it will cover the top?

I had the Ford warranty on my SSR.
The dealership I used to fix the truck was NOT the dealership I bought the SSR from nor the one I bought the warranty from. The fixing dealership worked with me by filing the claims so I didn't have to pay first, but they said that they wouldn't do it anymore because it has become such a pain in the ***. But since I have 120k miles on my SSR now, I don't have a warranty any more

Y, THE WARRANTY IS A GREAT DEAL AND WILL COVER YOUR SSR. I TRADED UP FROM AN '04 TO AN '06 LAAST YEAR AND JUST BOUGHT THE WARRANTY. GIVE BOB A CALL. I FOUND HIM ON THIS SITE ON AN EARLIER POST AND SAVED HIS NUMBER. I HAVE NO RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM AT ALL OTHER THAN BUYING MY WARRANTY.
MY BROTHER-IN-LAW, DOUGLAS UNGEMACH IS THE CREATOR AND DESIGNER OF THE SSR. HE WORKS FOR A DESIGN COMPANY IN DETROIT THAT WAS HIRED BY GM, CHEVY. DOUG IS NOW WORKING ON A '32 FORD SUPER RIDE. YOU CAN GET ONE FOR ABOUT $200,000 FROM http://www.americanspeedcompany.com/
DID YOU KNOW HE DESIGNED ALSO A FOUR DOOR SSR THAT DID NOT MAKE IT OFF THE BLUE PRINTS.
I HAD A SLINGSHOT '04 THAT I TRADED UP FOR MY REDLINE '06. WE JUST TOOK A GREAT TRIP IN IT FROM DENVER TO SANTA FE, PETRIFIED FOREST, GRAND CANYON AND DOWN TO YUMA, AZ TO VISIT FRIENDS AND RIDE SEA DOOS ON THE COLORADO.
I FOUND BOB HAISLER IN A POST WAY BACK, SAVED HIS INFO AND BOUGHT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. THAT IS MY ONLY RELATIONSHIP WITH BOB. I BELIEVE THEY CAN SELL WARRANTIES ON ALL TYPES OF VEHICLES.
I WILL BE AT THE RALLY IN ESTES PARK IN SEPTEMBER.
I LOVE MY SSR AND BETTER YET MY WIFE LOVES MY SSR. IF WE HAD THE EXTRA FUNDS WE WOULD HAVE TWO '06 SSR'S SO IF ANYONE IS FEELING GENEROUS, WE WILL BE GLAD TO GIVE YOUR SSR A NEW WARM GARAGED HOME IN THE EMPTY SPACE.
P.S. THIS IS IN CAPS BECAUSE MY DEXTERITY IS NOT THAT GOOD TO BE SHIFITNG AROUND. IT IS THE RESULT OF A SINGLE ENGINE AIRPLANE ACCIDENT DUE TO ENGINE FAILURE.
I bought my SSR from a chrysler dealership and got the Chrysler extended warrenty also.

So if you need warranty work you can take it to what ever mechanic and he gets an approval for the repair from the warranty co? Is that how it works with the Chrysler one?
Yes, that is how it works but the easy way is to take it to a Chrysler dealer and you will have it covered there except for your deductible. If you go with the zero deductible then you are out the door with only the time away from your SSR.
This extended warranty is great if you are over one year new. You can pay the $150 fee and still get an extended warranty. with GMPP after one year new then you are out of luck. With the Chrysler deal you can go 7/60, 7/8 and 7/100. Of course the cost goes up as the mileage goes up.
Question, if you buy the extended warranty two year after you have owned the SSR, lets say a 7/85,000 warranty, does the warranty start the day you buy the warranty or do you subtract the time that the SSR was first bought from the dealership new? So this 7/85,000 is really a 5/85,000 warranty. I hope that makes sense! It's time for another beer!
Thanks,
Art
The GMPP plans is the only one I've seen that is from the miles and date of purchase of the GMPP plan.
If you buy it within the first year and 12000 miles the rate table used for the cost is much lower than if you wait until after one year or more than 12000 miles. That's why waited to purchase a GMPP until about two weeks before my SSR's one year in service date.
I purchased my plan on 6/13/2007 with 9865 miles on the odometer. I purchased a GMPP Major Guard plan for 72 months or 60 miles. The booklet shows on page one that my GMPP plan expires on 6/13/2013 (72 months from the plan purchase date) or if it goes over 69865 miles (60000 more miles than my SSR had on the date of the GMPP purchase).

You didn't gain anything. The reason it's cheaper, earlier, is you already were covered for 3/36. Your coverage started when you purchased so you gave up a considerable amount of factory warranty. It would be a "deal" if they tacked it on to your existing factory coverage, which they don't.

This was discussed in one of the many other "extended warranty" threads in this post I had that thread. The cost to purchase 6 years/60k miles just before 1 year of service vs buying a 4 year/40k miles plan two years from now is what I'm talking about. The cost to buy the 4 year/40k two years from now was at a MUCH higher cost to end up getting the same end point in time and miles.
I selected an end time and mileage range I was comfortable with for my SSR. I then looked at what it would cost to purchase a plan now vs waiting two years and buying one that would end at approx the same date/miles. That's how I decided to buy now since it was going to save me about $1000 to get the same (approx) end date/miles by purchasing the plan now rather than later.
If I was comparing the purchase of a 6yr/60k/$0 plan now vs a 6yr/60k/$0 plan two years from now, then I would agree with your position.
If you look at this GMPP pricing page (as an example) you'll see a catagory 5 vehicle (SSR) with less than 12000 miles and less than one year of service is considered "new" while any SSR with over one year of service or more than 12000 miles would fall into one of two "used" pricing tables.
These examples all assume the GMPP Major Guard pricing holds at the current price chart values for the next two years....
New Pricing (purchased now): 72 months/60k miles/$0 Ded = $1460
Used Pricing (purchased in one year with between 0K and 24K miles): 60 months/50k miles/$0 Ded = $1785.
Used Pricing (purchased in two years with between 24K and 36K miles): 48 months/40k miles/$0 Ded = $2470.
All three options will get me to the same end time and miles, it's just a matter of when I purchase the GMPP contract and for how much. Waiting after one year costs more money (at least $325 more) and once it goes over 24k miles the cost goes WAY up.
The factory warranty will cover repairs first before the GMPP plan, but there are a few minor benefits to the GMPP when your vehicle is required to be out of service for longer periods of time (rental coverage) and some towing coverage as well even when the factory warranty is covering the repair itself.

Thanks! Any chance of this site finding an outlet for the members to sell us the extended warranties at a good price if we buy in numbers? Has anyone bought from other companies that sell extended warranties other than GM or Chrysler? I guess the consensus would be to buy an extended warranty on our SSR's? I will be looking for two extended warranties. I have never bought an extended warranty on any car, truck or anything else that I bought in the past. This is going to be an learning experience! I did check a Chrysler site and it stated the warranty would start on the in- service date vs the purchase date of the extended warranty. I am getting a quote from Carchex, the company that does vehicle history reports. I will do some checking on other companies but they will have to be company we know and not some fly by night companies!
