Replace the ingintion switch.
Just about every other day somebody got a problem and it related to the ingintion switch. Do a search and you'll find the current part number listed here.

I haven't had these problems (although I've had most others) but from what everyone describes I'd agree with RRR. Have them replace the ignition switch and reflash everything for good measure.

Good luck! Keep us posted.

Jon

Could also be a battery on its way out.

When I was manually closed the roof, I noticed one of the locking pins is missing the plastic piece on it. Does someone have a part number for that? I do not see it in the compartment.

Thanks,

The ignition switch problem causes all sorts of weird things to happen not just you can't get the key out. It's more electrical.

A bunch of people have also had battery "end of life" issues. The battery seems fine, but goes very quickly.

As for the manual closing of the top, I haven't seen anyone post saying that they have actually gotten that to work. I have seen posts saying that they NEVER got it to work though.

If no one posts the # for the plastic piece, you might want to start a thread asking for that inro in the Parts forum.

Yea it sounds like this could be the culprit.

My did the same thing. When the ignition switch goes bad, the transmission defaults to third gear. Key stays in, check engine light... all the above.
