Fixing Running Boards

Can any one tell me how to keep the black rubber on the running boards from turning gray. Short of replacing the pads. HELP

The 303 protectant didn't work for me. Maybe mine were too faded before I used it. The Mother's Back to Black also was not enough. In a move of desperation before going to the dealer, I tried using an old bottle of Kiwi black leather die. If you do this be sure to mask off the area around the rubber. I used it like a stain, applying with the built in sponge applicator and wiping off with a rag. It took two applications to get a good color, but it is black! I put the Back to Black on top of this and it looks as good as ever now.

Myself. I would remove the insert and paint them with Krylon Fusion plastic paint. The back to black stuff works but it wont be long before it wears off and there gray again. Fusion is a special paint that soaks into the plastic for a peel and chip free bond.

I can vouch for this means and method...the Fusion paint is very good and I use it on anything plastic or vinyl like.

I assume the Krylon Fusion is intended to paint back to "Black". Do they have colors also and how close would they be to some of our factory colors (likely not close.....).........thanks

How does the insert remove? Seems like it is adhesive applied.
