Flat tire repair kit

I've not seen this before on the site, however I was at the Iowa State Fair today and saw a product that I think my solve the worry of getting stuck with a flat tire.
This tire repair kit really works, I talk to the factory guy and he gave me a demonstration and this really works. You still need to have the pump, however it will plug the hole until you can get help or a new tire.
Anyway, here is the site if your interested. Price was right, $12.00 and has a 10 year storage life.

That type of repair kit has been around at least ten or fifteen years.
I've used them many times and never had a repair fail, for the life of the tire.

Yep, I can verify that type of plug has been around for at least 35 years. I`ve used them for everything from wheel barrows to trucks. Even used 2 of them in a sidewall of an oversized Jeep tire once. Ran it for weeks and it wasn`t leaking when I replaced the tire. Wouldn`t hurt to carry the plug kit and use the plug before the slime, which you might not even need. Good reminder. Thanks....Paul

I remember about 40 years ago ,my dad & uncle were makeing these parts for a tubeless tire repair plug gun & you would put the plug in the part they made & then screw it onto the air gun & pull the triger so the air would push plug into tire. The plug was shaped like a mushroom & the big part would go into the tire & the stem would stick out of tire & be cut off. You would have to go to the tire store to get this done. It was so you would not have to take tire off rim. this was the first tubeless tire repair that I can remember. It was called the ( PLUG-O-MATIC ) model 500 & the company we made them for was ( TYLER MFG.CO. ) in Hawthorne , Calif. Does any one remember these ? sum years later these rope type of plugs came around . Much easyer & it's a do it your self thing.

Just used this type of plug to replace a screw in a runflat tire, works great and I will have Goodyear patch the inside at a later convenient date. My SSR came with them and I bought them for other vehicles.
