Flowmaster and Magnaflow part numbers

Hi,
I am in need of the EXACT replacement muffler part number for an 05, not the entire cat back system. All I want to do is cut out the original muffler and band clamp in a new muffler for a better sound. Has anyone done this and can you please provide me a part number?

I went to Summit today and brought back a Flowmaster that the sales person said would fit per the chart but when I got home I see that it is a single in and single out and not the single/dual replacement. I don't want to splice or add other plumbing, I just want a direct replacement with more sound.

Thanks in advance

PS - I ran searches in the forum and other places but I couldn't find anything

We used exisiting piping and used a Magna Flow P/N 12288 and installed 5" tips and it made a big difference. Not as loud as the as the 40 flow master at idle speed and getten on it

I made a post about Flowmaster's and doing exactly what you are describing; to my surprise, no one here has posted that they've done it yet as far as a 40 series muffler.

Someone posted (search the forums) that they were able to weld in a Delta Flow 50 series to their truck and were happy with the quieter results. The 50 series is much more similar to the stock muffler in terms of dimensions. I believe they used a 8430522 (they showed a picture of the box) but that muffler has 2.25" outlets....I'm thinking the 2.50" outlets is "more" correct however.

I'm searching this week to install one of the 40's on my truck...either the Super 40 or the Delta Flow 40. The 50 would be too quiet for me, and I've had a regular 40 on a tricked out Caravan (don't ask) which was pure hell. All 40 series mufflers are much smaller/shorter, but it shouldn't be a problem for a muffler shop. I'm going to go with a 3.00" center inlet with dual 2.50" outlets once I decide which model I'm going with.

Plus, the Super 40 brand new on eBay is only around $70; my muffler shop quoted me $40-45 to weld it on if I already have the muffler.

I'll let everyone know the results and what fits/doesn't fit.

Jeff

Hi Fourhounds...

Which 40 did you get???? Do you still have regular cats???? What specific model/part did you get? Did you just weld in a replacement? HOW bad does it resonate?

Thanks,
Jeff

Thanks for posting that...so you've got an original plain 40 series.

HOW obnoxious is it inside? Please let me know...I've already decided to pretty much stay away from the original 40.

Thanks,
Jeff
