Front Tire Problem......

Had a slow leak in my right front tire. A guage showed it was 8 lbs low 7 days after it was checked prior to the Panhandle Meet. I aired it up Thursday morning before leaving Ga. and drove the 600 miles back home to Fl. at the normal interstate speed of around 80 mph. Today I took it to my local tire dealer, who pronounced the presents of a puncture in the sidewall. A new tire is available and on it`s way and should arrive Wednesday. I shudder to think what could have happened at highway speeds if the tire had come apart.
Being old school and used to the safety margin of higher profile tires, I consider this a lesson learned and I urge all Fanatics to do more than just air up a low tire. Have it checked before you hit the highway. Safe driving to ya.....Paul

I also have a tire problem. The RR tire has a small bulge which the tire shop said was an impact separation - No warranty - called Goodyear they also said this was probably a road hazard and - No warranty - called several Chev. dealerships - the same - No warranty if you did not buy it from us. Guess I am buying a new tire. For an impact separation, I would have expected some gouge on the rim - nothing at all.

PS Only have 4K miles on the tire.

to tell the truth you have to dismount tire , look in side of tire , and see if the tire is cracked, cut in any way, this is a impack separation, caused when the wheel is pressed hard against tire, if there is no cut in side the tire stand your ground, and tell them wheres the brake or cut from the rim???? they need to stand by thier tire, that how i would judge that type of warranty...........PASTA MIKE

Great info - I've had a slow leak in the RF and will now have it inspected. I remember nicking a curb at the airport parking lot and probably have sidewall damage. At least the strike is over. I need better traction in the rear and haven't been able to decide on a stickier tire. Any Ideas or testimonials? The rear end comes loose in "increasing radius" type turns even when I carefully throttle the SSR. ( but I am a leadfoot )

Increasing radius turns are so much fun... I'm very pleased with the Dunlop SP9000s. Now the SSR goes around corners!
