GM Tech II Does NOT Change Ratio to 4.10

I was working with my local dealer, tech and service writer. They even called and talked to mother GM about the tech II and the capability to change the gear ratio to 4.10 in the 05/06 SSR.
Bottom line answer is that they cannot change the ratio with the tech II.

The only fix is to get a handheld tuner of have a tuner shop do the update. Westers will be setting me up.. More on those results later.

This is pretty interesting. I HAD been told by another Fanatic that his dealer found the 4.11 axle choice as a valid choice in his ECM via the Tech II.

That makes sense no matter what year of SSR you have, as:

1. The 03 / 04 models use the LM4 engine and ECM whic is also used on pickups that have the 4.11 axle as a valid option for trailering applications

2. The 05 / 06 SSRs use the LS2 engine used in the Trailblazer SS, which comes from the GM factory with a 4.11 axle!!

Hmmm . . .

Talking Hypertech gear change

I believe the Hypertech reprogrammer has the capability to change the gear ratio in the set up.When I reprogrammed mine I believe I saw that capability there. Just a note.

Autodan: He has an 05 SSR with the new CAN architecture. The Hypertech microtuner you mention is only available for the 03 / 04 SSRs rigth now, I believe.

Very few microtuners are available yet for the 05 / 06 models. That's why a lot of 05 / 06 owenrs are sort of stuck.

I was told by my local Trick Trurks shop that hypertech is almost done with a tuner for 6.0 SSR. They were hoping to have it done in Feb.

He was up in Atlantic City, NJ in Feb talking to them at the auto tech show.

I am hoping it will be this month. He is supose to get one of the first ones out for me, but you know how that go's.

It would be nice to get the details of how this was done. Could add it to the tips and tricks. For the time being, my speedo will read about 10% high - not a big deal.
