Last summer I lost my M6 tranny on my SSR coming back from Montreal.
I was awaiting the new M6 in Indiana when I got online with this wonderful forum. More than one member advised me to call the Customer Service Line and ask for the warranty exception fund (since I had 45M showing). Much to my surprise, they called the dealer in Indiana and reduced the $4000. bill to $2000. (happy day) with the cooperation of the dealer's service manager (who controls this fund along with GM Warranty)
This past October, my 2003 CTS would not lock nor unlock using the key-fob. I took it to my Cadillac dealer, I asked the service manager to use his fund to contribute to the $350. charge and he chipped-in $175. (seeing a trend here?)
Friday, my CTS blew-out the power steering gear and suspension assembly. I asked the service manager how much he could contribute to the $1800. bill. He conferred with GM and came up with $900. (another good day)
I am reporting these three instances because most folks do not know about the warranty exception fund. It is designed to keep you a GM customer! Next time you are faced with a large bill at your GM dealer, remember to ask about this wonderful aid.
This fund is not available to those who think it "progressive" to buy cars which help foreign countries make money. Those which have plants in the USA are not manufacturing the cars, they are simply fitting them together with foreign made parts (in most cases)
