Got a Letter from GM today for a fuel Level Sensor issue on SSRs
I just received a letter from GM stating some of the SSRs have a fuel level sensor that wear prematurely resulting in the Service Engine and Low Fuel lights to light up. GM states they will cover 50% of the repair price if a chevrolet dealership has to repair it even if it is out of warranty.
Has anyone else received one of these letters?
I attached a copy here:

Reason: Added links to original letter
Is this recall only for 2005 not for any other year?
It is my undertanding that this is for all SSR,s It is the sending unit that goes bad. You have to remove the furel tank to fix it. I had to have mind repaired
the fuel gauge would regester empty when I filled the tank until I burnt out about a 1/4 of the tank then it started moving all over the place. A friend, Wingrider on the forum, did the work at a local Chevy dealer. A few days after the repair the memo came out. Seems GM was aware of the problem but just now addressed it. I am told that I should get a letter and half of my repair cost will be returned so if you have had this problem and had it fixed dig out your bill and contact your dealer.
But not everyone has you capabilities or facilities. I think it's a decent offer.
True, and I'm totally confident GM will stand behind their out of warranty oil pump (and engine that was damaged as a result) that was defective from day one too.

If mine fails do they need me to drive it so fuel level is low or should I have them do it with a full tank .--did my 97 chevy 2 times in my drivewaywith half tank it is a pain
Would it kill GM to pay for the whole repair on a part that is obviously under-engineered or otherwise defective? The General still doesn't understand the wisdom of ensuring a completely satisfied customer. Brand loyalty goes 2 ways General.

funny you posted this
Funny you posted this, last night I filled up my R and headed home. As I headed down the road the fuel gauge bounced to empty, the a light on the dash for trouble came on. Then the fuel went full and then empty, and the engine trouble light came on. My thought was what a way to start a Rally! When I got home I pugged on my computer to check the trouble light and it said the fuel sensor was over full, creating an error. I cleared the trouble code and it did not come back, Weird Huh?

Absolutely, Catbert . . . Lifetime Maintenance including Tires and Batteries would be great too.
It wouldn't matter if GM picked it up, left a new Caddy loaner, returned it washed and waxed, with a full tank, at no charge. Some people would still bitch it shouldn't have failed in the first place.

This problem has existed on many GM trucks for years. My 2001 Z-71 P/U same problem except they had no help for me. The sending unit is part of the fuel pump assembly and requires replacement of the pump.
Doopus, Pigs are safe. I had a cow valve installed in my heart
