Green oil leak??

05 SSR, leaking a florescent green oil from somewhere up near the A/C condenser (yes, I'm positive it's oil). Sound like A/C lube but with leak detector dye in it or is the A/C lube in these green? Seems to be a fair amount, which has me wondering. I haven't looked too hard yet to figure out where it's coming from, just discovered it this weekend.

I figured someone would suggest coolant, that's what popped into my head at first too, but I'm still running Dexcool, definitely not green.

That's kinda what I figured, interesting thing is I've never had it worked on, and bought it new. Dealer had it for a year before we bought it, guess they must have had an a/c issue. Looks like I've got another one!

Seems to me I saw a sticker under my hood discussing the refrigerant. It stated that there was dye in it. Sounds like compressor oil...but check it with a blacklight fto be sure of the source.

It definitly sounds like the dye they put in the ac system. If you are not the original owner the last owner might had a ac leak and probaby added the dye because they could not find the leak with a leak detector

Wasn't there a recall on Dexcool. I think there was. It ate up Head Gaskets if I remember correctly. Check with your Dealer on this. I know this stuff will eat up Water Pumps as well. I may be mistaking it for another GM Product. But DEXCOOL seems to ring that ole warning bell.

...

Dexcool is hard on gaskets and waterpumps. Wigrider a G.M. tec. switched his out for that reason. I too have gone with a antifreeze and a water wetter.
