Guess tire cords are not wear bars

So i pull in the Driveway having gased and washed my wife's Civic Hybrid, and roll my overweight body out while glanceing at the SSR truck, and notice a strange line on the inside of the front passanger tire. Investigation shows the cord wearing thru at the very edge of the inside of the tire. From all other angles the tires look perfect but we have 20,000 miles on oversize Goodrich KDW's (20's and 22's) or whatever they are-and the truck is lowered.
So not wanting to spend 1000 dollars on new rubber we pulled them of and put on the original factory chrome wheels.
Both front insides were showing the white cords.
Now I'm still disappointed that I did not make it to Laughlin, but maybe there was something providential in that.
I suspect the lowered springs are mostly to blame.
OK now I'm ready for the COLD SPRING TAVERN run.

Alignment...

Even at stock ride height, my front Goodyear RSAs wore out on the inside tread at around 22K miles. I took my R to the alignment shop after putting on a set of Firestone Wide Ovals; and the numbers before the alignment were -1.3 degrees camber on both sides - which likely contributed to the excessive wear on the inside tread of both front tires. The shop was able to zero out the camber and the handling and responsiveness improved considerably along with better treadwear. Lowered SSRs may complicate this a bit, but you might take it to a shop you trust and see what they can do.

For SSR owners in the Denver area, I highly recommend Stan's Alignment on east Colfax - they have competent mechanics, they've been in business for a very long time and they will treat you right.

Zero camber is what I am running on my lowered KDW2s, and wearing evenly so far @ 28,300miles...

Thanks for all the info. It's off to the alignment shop.
As Blue Fox noted, there is no doubt that there was another 10,000 miles left of the rest of the tires

Same problem here, truck is lowered 20" / 22" BFG KDW's and fronts wore out on inside at 28,000 miles. Put new tires on front and took to alignment shop and was told lowering incfeased the problem. They maxxed out the camber adustment and all is well so far with 10K on the new fronts..

Wondering if your guy has good alignment equipment?
Tedd
Or maybe it's the need for an old timer that knows what he is doing

The equipment is well taken care of and like I said, it a one man operation and he been in business for 20 - 30 years. PVPDriver has also gone to this same guy that I've recommended.
One thing of note is he has the right stuff to deal with oversize 19 & 20 inch wheels.

Not sure whats an old timer is but this guy in his late 40's/early 50's

Just put on new General Grabber UHP's 19 and 20"s but 5mm larger sidewall. I took it in to have it alligned, because like the initial post, the inside on both the fronts was worn out. The guy told me the toe in was off the charts, but the camber / caster wasn't too bad. After the alignment the R drives with half the effort to turn, as before. I sispect the original specs were still on the truck, or the previous owner hit something. (I bought my Smokin 04 in Dec).

Love the tires, and the R handles like its on a rail, even in the wet.
my 2 bucks worth.
