Hanging Tabs on Rock Guards

I noticed something hanging down just in front of the rear tires on both sides of our SSR yesterday. Upon close inspection I found that the rear rock guards on the rear fenders extend down and under the body as tabs with a "hook" that latches over the bottom edge of the fender sheet metal. These tabs and "hooks" had fallen down on both sides, I guess due to normal road bumps. I pushed both of them up again but I'm sure they will fall again.

Before I pop rivet these tabs into the sheet metal of the fenders, I wanted to know if anyone had noticed this before on their cars and had a better fix.

(I'd attach pics but my camera is in the shop.)

My 2004 ssr has the same problem. According to other posts these are glued onto the fenders with some type of adhesive. A search on the subject may turn up some other suggestions. So far I have just left mine as they are and it came this way from my purchasing dealership.
