I just put my SSR into the dealer's service with the complaint of the dreaded "Tink". The service writer just called me and said that the noise is normal and nothing to repair. I bought this 2004 SSR used with 8K miles on it. In looking at the repair history on the vehicle, it has had two driveshafts replace and a complete rear end. Is this something that I should worry about "the Tink is normal"? Any suggestions would be appreciated. My "tink" is loud when going into drive and reverse and when the transmission shifts.
My SSR: '03 Smokin' Asphalt, Vin 1656 B-day 11/13/03, Slightly modified via bad influence hdflstf & TommyB
There are a lot of threads on the "tink"... do a search on tink & you'll find them. As for myself... I am on my third driveshaft & second rear differential. All warranty items. I pretty sure in the search you'll find the service bulletin #. Good Luck

NO, On a near 50K vehicle you should not have Tinks, Clinks, Leaks, and over heating issues. YES UNFORTUNATELY. its normal for the SSR and many other vehicle's made by the "General". Even if they did change it again you most likely would have to wait 4 months for the parts to come in anyway.

What number truck is that? It sounds like my buy back SSR...Exactly like my buy back SSR. Does it have a Green Air Filter in it? a 160 thermostat?
I would suggest starting the arbitration process with the BBB. Since your Truck has been repaired twice already and you took it to the Dealer for try #3 and they said it was non repairable issue, you have met the three strike clause most States have to qualify for a buyback. Since they replaced the shaft 2 times already this also qualifies your complaint as legitimate. Now come on GM why did you replace it twice if the sound is "normal" Go after them.

I don't know what the laws are in Georgia but now, in most states, you must post a sticker on the vehicle for sale, indicating that it is a "buy back" vehicle that a customer was dissatisfied with. Then, when it is sold, the customer must sign a document indicating that they know that the vehicle was a "buy back".
You should check into this and if this is the case in Georgia and you did not sign a document indicating that you know it was a buy-back, I believe you have a very strong legal case for getting your money back (+ some more $$$)
