Unhappy Help in finding wires

Hello Fellow Fanatics

I am looking at adding some amber leds under the dash to light up the floor. Can anyone tell me if the wire from the accent light under the miror goes down near the underside of the dash?

Thanks
Larry

The "accent light" is actually a dimmed version of the interior lights that come on when the door is opened. The circuit comes from the computer and is Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) to get a dimmed effect. This is definitely not what you want to tie into. I would strongly suggest that you identify some of the instrument wiring to the radio or tha gauges. These will be "dimmable" with the control by the headlight switch and will give you what you want. I believe that the standard color code for GM instrument lighting wire is orange. Check your manuals and find something that makes sense.

Regards,

Mike

Thumbs up Mirror light power

Larry;

If you are wanting to have the under dash lights come on when the door opens, the wire you want is located on the right side of the passenger footwell.
Look above the black plastic to find a wire bundle. The wire you want is grey with a black stripe.
This is 12 volt + that is hot when the door is open and fade dims with the mirror lights when the door is closed.
I ran this to my under dash lights and grounded the socket. Worked fine on both my SSRs.

You are correct. It will work great with incandescent bulbs, but I tried to get some LEDs to work with that and was very disappointed. That's why I found other sources of power.

Great input, by the way.
