Question HELP!! Need a shifter assy part # 15839884

I have an SSR 2004 that the keys will not release ( sometimes). Drives me crazy!.
I was told by the dealer it is the Shifter assy 15839884 part #. They tell me that part has been on order for 4 months and they can't get one.
Does anyone know a place for me to look?

Thanks so much.

Thank you for the part number for the ignitions switch.

I am looking at a minimum of 5 months for the shifter assy and the dealer tells me they are 100% sure it is the shifter.
My bubble has been burst!

Well the ignition switch is so cheap....you might want to try it anyway, because many people have had the same symptom and it was the switch.

I was told 200 for parts and labor to replace part # 15242754.

Does that sound high? 40 for the part and the rest is labor to install.

Thanks

Greg,
Are you out of warranty? 36,000 miles and 3 years? I'm still good until June of '07 and am at 32,000 miles.
Just askin'.

This member has instructions on how to do it yourself....here is his post about PMing him for them:
Electrical Problem

from this thread

Electrical Problem

PS if you do decide to install yourself, you can order the part for cost +%10 from members here so it will be cheaper :-)

Good luck...and post again if you have mroe questions.

That SOUNDS WAY HIGH for labor to change the switch. My recollection is that I was in and out of the service dept in less than 2 hours when I had my switch replaced.

It sounds like your dlr really doesn't want to work on your truck, for some reason. I could try to be cute and ask you if you've checked your mouthwash lately, but a more positive suggestion might be to talk with another dlr. Approach them reasonably and, sooner or later, you'll probably find one that's more customer friendly.

I've done at least couple dozen in trailblazers and a few ssr and while I can do them in less than 30 min we charge 1 hour at $82 an hour, so yes it sound as if your dealer is charging too much

Wink

Thanks everyone. Yes mine has 42000+. I just get the feeling my dealer doesn't even want to work on it. He told me every part took weeks to get and I would get lucky if I every saw the shifter.
