help spoiler

For those of you that have installed the GTO spoiler, how did you ever get the holes drilled so that one or the other nuts didnot press into the weather stripping? I have moved the spoiler ever which way and always one nut will make contac with the weather stripping. thanks for your response. Jim

I had that problem and I don't think you can get completely arround it due to where it must be mounted. Unfortunatly I didn't think about the rubber and nicked my rubber when the drill broke through.
You can get the very thin head flat head machine screws that uses an alllen head wrench in the center of the screw head instead of a socket to screw them in. They are normally not metric and are frequently used for assembling furniture. Check with the hard to find hardware section of a Lowes store. Some also carry metric or grind the head down on a metric bolt leaving just enough to allow a socket to slip over. Most of those are automotive grade so it doesn't take a lot of the head left to be safe.
I used red lok-tite on the threads so I would not have to use a washer. It leave an impression on the rubber but with a little vasoline on the rubber where it touchs it should not chaff.

Make sure you elevate the cover and do not drill into the seal!! I put some padding on the box on each side and then layed a 2X4 across the box on top of the padding, so that I could have something to put a little pressure against when I drilled the holes.

Thanks to Shaowmen, Mike (Nulogic 1) and Antique for all the help on installing the spolier. I do want to say I did come up with some very dense foam that I was able to shape pretty good to use for the gasket. thanks Jim

Sounds like the reference was to button head cap screws. One place where you can get them is Home - Hillco Fastener Warehouse. Stainless, chrome, US and metric.
