Hooking up Conv. Top to remote start

Hey everyone,
I am working on a 2006 SSR. I have already installed K40 radar/laser system, navy, and remote start alarm. I am trying to make the converitable top open and close off through the remote from the alarm system. I was wondering if anyone has done this with remote start. When opening the top you must have the foot brake which would shut off the remote start. I really need to get this done plus it would look awesome to open the top while remote starting the car. Thanks for any help in advance. Keith

Stereosteve told us it would cost $ 2500 when we went to Sam's house for dinner. He has it installed on Sam's SSR. Very cool.

Yep, Eric had this done by Victor Kelley Alarms in Victorville and I don't believe it cost him anywhere near $2500. The shop is just a few blocks from work and I'll try to stop by and ask Victor.

Works for me - from memory, I think the remote unit alone was around $ 1,000.00. And I also think the # was $ 2000, not $ 2500.

hey everyone,
After several hours and 10 relays we got it. Open and close while the car is running on remote start. We used the clifford paging alarm system. I will take a video and post it on u tube. The guy that owns the car wants the car to be clean, so its going to be cleaned and there should be a video on u tube within the next week. I will keep you all posted. Thanks for the great help. -Keith

This is one of the things I want when I finally pick up my SSR. I have a CompuStar pro 2-way remote start/alarm that's getting pulled from the Solstice, and since the top is automatic and takes 25 seconds, it would be awsome to hit the button on the way out of the office and hop into a ready-to-go R.

I had this done on mine a while back by the stereo shop that installed my alarm. Several relays were required.

Make sure you know where all the relays are and how to get to them, some of them go bad. I've had to replace some already. Now I try not to use the remote feature too much.

I should be getting my R back on Saturday or Monday; I'll let you know what it took with the CompuStar to get the top down by remote...

That's also when I get 'er back with the touch-screen dvd, integrated nav, Sirius, music keg, JL TW5 (13.5" sub) behind the passenger seat, Morel Elates in the doors, 2 Alpine PDX amps, and the rest of the car alarm and remote start.
