I finally got confirmation that the re-designed rear sway bar has been produced so I drove over to Hotchkis after work and they gave me the new rear bar. I thanked them profusely for that.
A quick recap.. The original sway bar kit was prototyped on an automatic trans SSR. Mine is a six speed therefore mine has the larger rear end 9.5" ring gear versus the 8.5" for all of the auto trans SSRs.
Now that the rear bar has been re-designed to clear the larger rear, us 6 speed owners can install them without the occasional clunk I had. The only catch for now is that you will need to specify that you have the 6 speed so they can be sure to give you the correct rear bar. This will eventually fix itself as the "older" rear bars are sold off. All new production will be of the re-design so it will fit all SSRs, auto or stick.
Now for the pictures.
First picture is the 'old' bar on top and the new bar below. You can see that the center section drops more and is a bit wider than the old bar.
Second picture shows the spot where it contacts the rear. It's the upper bar to the right of center past the first bend just before the second bend.
Third picture is with the new bar installed. You can see plenty of clearance now. The old bar rubbed the rear to the right of the cover about halfway up the triangular web on the right just below the axle housing.
And never mind the dirt underneath - it's a daily driver.
Have they reworked the front bar so the grease fitting is functional?
No. I don't think that will ever happen. Just for clarification it would be the mount not the bar. Of course neither front or rear is greasable stock..
Actaully the fish is a Dolphin - at least thats what the call them in Florida. Also know as Mahi... Caught it about 3 weeks ago out of Port Canaveral on the east coast of Florida. It's one of the three nice bulls I caught that day. We still have some filets in the freezer
What is the benefit of the new sway bar over the stock one (6-speed)?
Ken
Aftermarket swaybars will reduce the body roll around corners making the SSR stay more flat in the corners. This will improve the handling. The Hotchkis bars are hollow so they are lighter than the stock bars. They are also stiffer.

You're right that's what they call them there, in fact I caught 2 nice bulls fihing out of Islamorada. I mostly fish the Sea of Cortez and the Mexican Pacific so I'm used to calling them Dorado's. The Mexican's named them after their "Gold" color. I've fished for them in Hawaii where the are called Mahi Mahi and the Trigger Fish is called a Humuhumunukunukuapua'a. Ask Maui Mike to pronounce it.
