Was it overheating at all? They were designed to lose power to save the engine if that should happen. I read it in the An American Original book, Ed Ivey (freezer) talked about it.
Congrats on the trophies

fuel pump ? Twice I've had to replace fuel pumps on Chevy trucks. Always happened when I needed fuel had an almost empty tank. Don't know about the SSR, but in the case of the two Chevy trucks, the fuel pump was in the tank . . . very expensive repair.

Possibley maybe some bad fuel or moisture in the tank? Try a can of dry gas. Just my 2 cents worth.

Remove fuse 27 in the underhood fuse box and wait 10 minutes then put it back and start the car, see if that helps

No one mentioned the ignition switch, this will cause a lot of different issues and is a cheap and fast repair.

More important to find what's wrong

If you pull the fuse or the cable all you are doing is clearing the computer memory.

I think it would be better to take it to the dealer (or a shop you trust) to check the computer with the stored failure event. The computer stores input and output information before and after the light came on. This way you can find what is wrong instead of just clearing the PCM.

Hello, I have had the same problem---TWICE! once with my wife's 05 slingshot , the local chevy dealer replaced an intermitent defective ignition switch. Once with my 06 tu tone / (silver over black). Was out of town and Chevy dealer found loose ground connection---under the fuse panel----has been approx. 3 months on each occurance and have had no further problems. On both occasions had to call roll back tow truck . You did good at the car show.

If you're under warranty, get thee to a dealership. If not, at least go buy a code reader (several can be had for under $100 to read/clear OBD codes, check your local auto store or Sears) and find out what the system is trying to tell you.

What you're looking for is an OBD II Autoscanner. They will work on any make/vehicle made after 1996.

Just be aware the GM 'TECH II' is the only reader that can read the stored event. Just having the code is seldom enough to diagnose the failure. Some independent shops have advanced equipment to diagnose these systems (but be sure they have it). Bummer to pay them money to refer you elsewhere.

Mine did this about 9 months ago - lost all power - had to have it towed to dealer - something to do with the computer programmer - it took them 4 hours to fix it. All covered under warranty. 06 - 6 speed

Ignition switch

Mine recently did the same thing. The dealer replaced the ignition switch and that cured it.

Since yours was kinda rebuilt, I'd personally go thru every nut & bolt and make sure that they are tight, especially the grounds. If you need an Ignition Switch. I'll send you my spare w/ instructions. I think I'm closest to you?

Thanks to all who have responded to this post. The conversion company has said they will have the car transported back to their workshop{3500 kms away] and go though the entire car, at no cost to me.They are also going to satin coat the grille bars for me while it is there, and replace the facia with a new one that had not arrived before the completion of my car. They give a 12 month warranty on all work carried out by them but the car has no factory warranty due to the right hand drive conversion. The unit to diagnose problems I have not heard of them here.Would appreciate if someone could price one for me as it might be worth having. Thanks again for the help, will let you know the outcome.vavoom

They're talking about AutoXray OBD II Autoscanner, Model# CP9135 or similar
For ODB II (1996 and newer) vehicles. Provides trouble code data, then erases trouble code and turns Check Engine light off. Helps determine if vehicle w
