Hi:
I did it, it's all my fault!

While parking Ruby

in our garage I became distracted by some furniture stored there during our home re-decorating project and scraped the left front fender against a drywalled ceiling support post. There is 1/4" high X 7" long area scraped just above the wheel well where some of the paint was removed down to bare metal and some minor denting with a little dent/scratch about 4" above that. I'm just sick about this.
Problem is: I never have had to any body work done to any vehicle I've owned and I actually don't know the best way to approach the problem.
I live in Ventura County California. Should I take this into the dealer, or try to find a body/paint shop in the area? Should I have the whole fender re-painted or just the area where the damage is? There is some pin stripping, done by a local artist, on the upper portion of the fender just below the hood seam and around the wheel well, maybe the fender could be masked over the pin stripping, although I'm sure I can get the pin stripping re-done by the same artist, if it needs to be.
Should I contact my insurance company and risk getting my currently low-cost policy, $580/year, increased? Is this considered a collision or is it covered as a comprehensive claim?
I'm lost; if anybody has any suggestions, I'd sure appreciate some input.
Thanks,
