HVAC Is Mine Broken?

For the first time today I had to use the defroster. OK I turn it on and it comes on at FULL BLAST and also the rear defrost came on also without pushing the little button. Now I notice the blower setting is on #2 and im getting full blast fan. I move the fan control UP and the blower slows down. I then click it through 1 - 5 and all seems well and I leave it on but only on #1. I re start the truck and again its on #1 but blowing at full blast is this normal? It only seems to do this in defrost. If its normal it sure is wierd.

There are 2 settings for the defroster. If you turn it all the way to the lighted defroster setting, the fan comes on full blast. If you turn it to the setting just before the lit one, the fan is controlled by the fan switch.

I think it's great that I can turn everything on for an quick defrost with just one setting.

It's for a full fast defrost. I've had several cars that did it.
