I Tink I hear a TINK.

New to me 04. When I put the car in reverse I Hear a little metallic tink like the tap on a small bell. It is just a one note. Please what is this? Just a strange little noise. It seems most cars make some type of funky noise when put in reverse, but this tinkerbell has me ??. Thanks for input Rand.

My 04 has a "Tink" also. Has for the last 70,496 miles.

Went to drive shaft place and they can do carbon fiber for $800. They can do aluminum for $800. They can do steel for $400.

And they recommend steel in 3" instead of 4" unless we are going to race.

I just don't worry about it.

Thanx Dicktator. Another ? Please. My drivers side door index stop at the hinge makes a snap sound at the detants. I can see there is a bit of slack or wallow at the pin mounted to the door frame. It seems to be a fine phillips head screw. is there a bushing or sleeve that has worn that needs replaced or does this just require grease? I tried to remove the screw but the soft metal seems to strip, is this common and please recommend a fix. thx R

When going to reverse a "tink" usually means a slight amount of wear in the differential and is heard as the transmission engages and the drive shaft turns the differential gears in the reverse direction. This is fairly common. When it starts to "clunk", then it is time to consider a little maintenance.
