The Infamous Ashtray Latch

I have read that a number of SSRs have trouble with the Ashtray Latch. I had no expericnce of a problem, so I did not pay much attention to it until TODAY. I removed the ash recepticle in the tray and fitted the Siriuis Radio head in the tray. Looks great, radio head hidden, open tray tune radio, close tray. One big probem, the latch worked fine before, now it wouldn't work!

I discovered that there is a adjustment to the tray. If you just install it, it slips down to where the latch no longer aligns, latch won't work. I loosened the bolts and moved the tray up, and the latch works.

If the latch is as much as 1/32" out of alignment, it will not latch. This may be the problem with some latches.

Hope this may help some.
