Inside door handles

The dreaded door handle problems, is it the handle thats breaking or the part the handle mounts in?

The older handles are attached to the door not just with 2 screws. They are also snapped thru the door and the tips are melted over a little. You have to snip those off wth some cutters. But at least the new handles are held in place with snap in ring, making them easier to replace if they break again.

I was fortunate to get an old pair of handles to at least temporarily repair my drivers door until the new handle comes in. The Chevy place changed out the broken one wth the old style and for the passenger side they had a new handle so they went ahead and replaced that one now. You can see where the old one broke in this picture.

Judging from this newer style, the handles should work for a much longer time, although I am still thnking some kind of metel clips on the ends will improve the door handle problem.

And last but not least, here is a side by side comparison of the older style and the newer style so you can see how it has been improved.

I hope this clears up a lot of questions for everyone concerned.
