Installation instructions / tips for 3G chin spoiler
Recently I purchased and received a chin spoiler from 3G Services for my '04 SSR . Upon opening the shipping box I noticed that there where no installation instructions included with spoiler. While my friend, who will be assisting me with the install, and I are somewhat mechanically inclined and have worked on cars since we were able to drive neither of us have ever installed an after market body feature.
I have attempted to secure installation instructions (if they exist) directly from 3G Services, however, I have yet to receive any response. Since I plan to install the chin spoiler over the upcoming Memorial Day weekend I thought I would reach out to fellow SSRfantatic members and see if there are any special tricks or unique installation instructions that I need to be aware of that will the make the installation go smoothly. For example, do the support brackets attach to pre-existing holes in the frame or do new holes have to be drilled? Any special tricks to ensure the spoiler is installed level with the rest of the car?
Any assistance you could lend me in regards to this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Ah common guys. . . . Am I to believe that no one has personnally installed a chin spoiler manufactured by 3G Services on their SSR? Has everyone had a 3rd party do the installation? I'm sure there is at least one SSRfanatic who did the install themselves and has some helpful tips that will make my install go better than a trial and error method. So come on and put your ideas out there for everyone to read and learn (p.s. I truly would appreciate any helpful tips that you may have).
Perhaps this is why 3G Services couldn't provide me with written instructions . . . no one has installed the product themselves. It is always done by another party in a far distant place (like a body shop). Common on guys put your thoughts out there. Help another fanatic make his SSR even better.

Thanks WOW FCTR for giving my post a bump.
I was the host vehicle for the 3G's Chin spoiler.....Mine came installed when I picked up the . I do know that parothed97 (Dan) has installed a 3 G's Chin Spoiler.....PM him I'm sure he can help you out!
I sent an email to 3G Services on May 14 and have yet to receive any response. Appreciate you giving me a lead with parothed97. I will try to PM him and see if he can give me any helpful advice. In looking at the chin spoiler it doen't look like a complicated install; however, as with everything you do when you get done you learn a lot of tricks that will help you the next time. I'm just trying to network and learn those tricks from others and their experiences.

Just read your questions......hubby's home now....here's a few answers
99% sure the support brackets attach to pre-existing holes in the frame

No....because the 4 or 5 bolts below the grill should line the spoiler up
If it's not to much trouble I would appreciate seeing pictures of the installed product. As they always say pictures sometimes are worth a thousand words.
Thanks so much for taking the time to try to find solutions to my concern. Though I don't know you I appreciate your efforts. I did send a PM to partohed97 as suggested in an earlier post.
Where is HB? Is that somewhere located in the Pacific Northwest? With a location of Surf City somehow I don't think that works with the rain in the Northwest?

I should be headed back up to Everett pretty soon on business. I hpe to have a little free time on one of these trip to meet some locals up there.
I installed a 3G spoiler on my '04 and there definately were instructions included with it. I don't remember if I kept them or not but I will look for them when I get home from work this evening.
The actuall install was straightforward and easy but a bit time consuming. Much of the spoiler is attached with double-sided sticky tape and the hardest part was getting the spoiler aligned correctly before pushing the spoiler into place. Once that tape sticks, there's no going back for a second chance. That stuff is tenacious!

Instructions were included with mine, but I don't have them now. I'm surprised you haven't heard from 3G - Doug has always been responsive when I've called or emailed. Try sending him a PM on this site if you can.
Installation was easy except for the double-sided tape. Too close to the top edge of the spoiler and it's too visible, too far from the top and the gap is noticeable. I spaced it about 1/16" from the spoiler edge. Since the tape follows the contour, I cut a slit in the peel-off liner at the center of the tape run, folded about an inch of the liner out of the top of the spoiler, and pulled it from two directions so the peel-off liner didn't stretch and break at one of the curve points.

Thanks again.
Took 8-9 pics for you will upload them later tonight.....off to the dealer now.
If anyone wants a copy of the Instruction sheets,
I can E mail them, but can not reduce them to post them.
Send your E Mail in a PM, to me if you'd like a copy.
C1Trob - Sent you a PM to just a few minutes ago. Truly appreciate your efforts in getting and sending me the instructions. I will let you know how the install goes. I just picked up the chin spoiler from the painter and it really looks great. While I was having the chin spoiler painted I also had the engine and fuse box covers painted. Of course the color had to be SLINGSHOT YELLOW. If the installed spoiler looks as good as the installed covers my ride is really going to take on a GREAT look!
C1Trob - I do plan to call you tomorrow to discuss the install. Is it better to call you during the day or later in the evening after work? Please let me know.
Thanks again to all fanatics who have helped me get to this point in my install. After receiving the instructions I guess the rest will be up to my friend and I. Take care.
