I purchased the WebElectric Products Brake Light Pulser and made some step by step installation photos to help the Fanatics.
Remove the two black plastic tie downs located on either side of the tail gate. I used a large screwdriver as a bar to unscrew them. Remove the carpet trim by separating the velcro attachments.
Remove the nine T30 torx bolts that hold the access panel in place. They are secured with loctite so you may need a wrench to help turn the screwdriver.
Thanks for posting the great photos and detailed installation instructions. I ordered my plug-n-play pulser, Model BLP-1C5, Wednesday evening and I was notified that it got shipped today. Looking forward to getting it and putting it in.
My SSR: SSR gone but still Redline Red aka TORCH RED!!!!!!
IS the light sourse in the "pulsar module" brighter than OEM??? and what type of sourse is it (LED?).......... Also what feedback have you heard regarding longevity of the bulb?

Hmmm! I have the same item and there is no light source attached to it; other than the OEM that is already present that you connect the pulsar module to. Mine uses the original OEM bulb.

I was just guessing/thought the pulsar comes with its own light sourse and the OEM gets removed. Humm now that I look closer at the images I see the red do-dad part (likely housing the bulb) gets reused!

Thanks Frank
NO it does not come with it's own light source. Just the BLP -1C5 Brake Light Pulser, instruction sheet, a business card and one breath mint that had a thank you on the paper. Once again there is no bulb needed.
It's nothing more than a complex Flasher Unit. 6-8 Flashes, then it remains constant. Gets their attention w/out being annoying. I'm seeing a great reduction in tailgaters, how about you guys?

I installed mine last week. Removing the 9 T30 torx bolts was by far the the most difficult issue in the installation. I choose this flashing brake light kit over the other options for the ease of installation + the minimal effort it would take to return to stock configuration. I just did not like the idea of 'cutting' existing wiring.

I never thought considered that it might be annoying when I had one on my motorcylce, especially if that is what it takes for some people to see you. I definitely think if it adds to being seen and getting people to stop before they smack right into you, then it should be done.
I guarantee, Edd, the first time it saves your vehicle, or even your "Life", you will wonder why you didn't install one sooner.
Well I got my 3rd brake light pulser today in the mail. As was said before, the installation of the plug-n-play unit was a breeze, except for getting out all 9 T30 torx bolts. I got 8 of the 9 bolts out, but had to use a 3/8" drive ratchet to get enough leverage. However, the last bolt was apparently stipped a good bit upon installation at the factory. It was a "booger", but applying all the downward pressure I could muster, I finally got it out. Of course that was followed by a "hoorah" and a few "choice words for that darn bolt.
I tested it out prior to putting every thing back together, and it worked just as advertised. I think this will be a good safety addition for our trucks, particularly with so many folks taking on their cell phones while driving these days.

Edd,
There are two basic versions of this accessory. One flashes 6-8 times once, then does not repeat if you hit the brakes again within 8 seconds. Seems like this wouldn't be a pain at a stop light. This option is literally just a couple of dollars more than one that flashes again every time you hit the brakes. Too bad you seem to follow the cheapskates around...
I'm in the boat that says these things save accidents and maybe lives.

It seems that WebElectric Products now offers the "BLP-1C5" as product BLP-1SSR for the SSR:
Add this trick mod to your SSR! The BLP-1SSR pulser module can give you an extra measure of safety while sporting about town. This device is a fully "Plug-N-Play" harness that simply plugs into your existing Center High Mount Brake Light. There are no wires to cut, and no adjustments to make.
The unit automatically pulses your third brake light when you apply your brakes. The light will pulsate on and off for about a second, then stay on steady for as long as you press the brake pedal. The unit is designed to create a gentle fluttering of light, so your car is more noticeable, yet it doesn't aggravate the driver behind you (notice how you can see it flashing, even while reading text down here!).
The "Delay-Repeat" circuit means the brake lights have to be off for at least 15 seconds before the cycle can be restarted. So, if you are in bumper-to-bumper traffic, the brake light isn't always pulsing.
I ordered this one today for my 05 SSR.

It's the exact same part as the one for the C5 Corvette.
If you look at the installation instructions on the WebElectric website notice that it's my SSR in the instructions.

Your SSR is now a "celebrity"! You be 'da man!
Hey, you know much I advocate the consolidation of information on this forum. On that note, would you mind adding a copy of you initial post in this thread to the accessories thread? It feel it would be a very good addition.
Thanks again for posting the installation information and photos.....very helpful.
