Ok… Help… I have dismantled everything from an MD80 to a Cessna 152 interiors… But never a car/truck…. I have purchased the interior carpet for my R (thanks Rssrtoy)… but concerned at how complicated this is…a local interior guy quoted 8 hours… which to me seems CRAZY…Am I missing something?? How is it attached.. is it just friction under the trim pieces that hold it in place? Is there a secret ?? HELP??!!
Don't know how the SSR is done but can't believe it's different than the car guys do. Is your new carpet a molded one piece? It should be retained in the flat of the foot well area by velco patches and around the periphery by the various trim panels. You probably need to remove the seats, consol cover, cowl kick panels, and the behind the seats trim panels, which would account for the large number of hours quoted. The molded carpets are the first trim that goes into the vehicle on assembly, and all else follows. Hope this helps. grimmye

If you were closer to Dallas area, I know my guys at Earmark could replace that for you in half the time.
I say this because they removed my entire interior, installed dynamat in the cab and the doors, replaced speakers, installed a new sub woofer and speakers w/all the wiring involved, then reinstalled everthing in less then 8.
Course we do things a little different then ya'll do in California...

Hey Mark sold it to you, he should install it too.
that's customer service.
Seriously, I have nothing good to add here, but maybe Mark could get his shop guys to do it for you at a reduced price...it's just a few hours drive north right?

By the looks of the kit that's on e-bay right now I would say everything comes out. Seats, kick panels, door channels, center console + waterfall, tire inflate kit, back side panels, and seat stops.
Since you will be doing all that I would take Jeff's advice and Dynamat all the area first + doors before putting the new carpet kit in, it will make a big difference in road noise....

What's "road noise"? All I hear is the sound from my exhaust pipes.
You should PM RAD-SSR (Larry) as he does install dynamat on his free time.
Sorry... Love you guys... but for me.. With all that pilot training, it has taught me to listen.. listen to the noise... I like hearing the engine, the road noise, the tires...constantly listening for change...Just how I was trained.. Even for the first 6 month of driving my truck .. never even turned on the radio! Just to learn the noise of the truck.. What can I say.. I'm a nut!

I kind of like a listener instead of a screamer....

Hey.... I didn't say I wasn't a screamer!!...
Funny, a friend recently said... A truck and love making are a lot alike... there is gotta be a lot of noise for it to be good...!!!
LTs SSR, I'm sorta like you, I like to listen for the different sounds of the vehicle. In the 1970's on the GM first down sizing of large cars, I spent 4yrs on the Noise and Vibration Committee. We would ride the prototypes listening for annoying sounds. It is amazing how one can learn to pickout specific sounds, like alternator whine, shock absorber jounce, fan, radiator wind rush, window/door wind noises, etc. I still can pick out many of the sounds that I learned to identify. We would also come up with solutions for the ones deemed offensive, but the ultimate decision (to fix or not to fix)was always made by people who didn't know didly about what they were deciding (sorta like the folks in DC).
