Leaking oil

My right front shock has leaking out a good amount of it oil last night. Jacked it up looked under SSR, checked out very well oil pan, drain plug, and finaly found the shock is what is leaking. My question is has anyone had same problem with thier shocks after lowering the truck? If so did the dealer give a hard time about lowering it? I had these shocks on my last 3 Corvettes and never had one go bad on me. And lowerd two of them. With Springfield trip just around the corner rather change it out my self then waist time fighting the dealer because I lowerd the truck. LOL maybe Iam answering my own question here.

Never had a issue with the dealer w/ any of my mods includeing lowering but my shocks [struts] aren't bad. Good luck but it does sound like you may have answered your own question.I would take it in if they say no then you know.

I haven't lowered my truck, but my right front shock had the seal broken on it. Got new tires and took it in to be aligned. The alignment shop let me know about the problem and the dealer replaced it under warranty the next morning.

Oil problem

Sixty minutes also did some "sting" operations along I-35 in Oklahoma, They also did some with home appliance repair. Most of the culprits would not aknowledge what they had done even after being shown they had been caught red handed on flim.

Yeah have heard of such rip offs

But after running a Midas shop for some yrs now, I jacked up the ole girl and looked under her, checked all around the motor, drain plug, filter, and the rest of the underneth, and was dry. But the lower aframe or control arm, was wet on the pass/ side. Pulled the tire off and followed the drip up the shock and its coming out under the plastic sheald, and because of the angle driping right where the spring seats on the frame. All so no ones has touched the SSR but me and only the guys I can trust ....But I do remember the old days when shops use to oil up shocks thou...............................thanks for the helping tips thou...Pasta Mike

Just A Helpfull Note Here

Bilstein's technically superior, patented monotube gas charged design allows the excessive heat from the oil to transfer to the outer surface of the shock body and dissipate more efficiently. The dividing piston also permits the oil to expand as heat builds, preventing aeration (foaming) and viscosity loss. This allows the shock to maintain full damping characteristics as temperatures rise.

Superior Monotube Design & Fabrication
The tube of a Bilstein Gas Pressure Shock Absorber is fabricated using a special extrusion method. This process achieves an extremely tight peak-to-valley tolerance and maintains consistent wall thickness. Bilstein's seamless monotube design provides superior tube strength while maximizing heat dissipation and shock life

WHEN I CALLED THE FRIST DEALER THE YOUNG MAN STARTED TO TELL ME THAT THE GAS SHOCK DOESN'T HAVE OIL LIKE THE OLD FASHION SHOCKS THOU THIS MAYBE TRUE THEY DO HAVE OIL IN THEM. JUST INCASE SOME ONE HAS THE SAME THING SAID TO THEM THIS MAY HELP YOU OUT..............MIKE

I had a shock blow out on me too. I know it wasn't a sham because it was pooled all over my garage floor. I took it to the dealer, where they didn't do anything, but after a few more days, another pool of oil was on the floor. I took pics of that one.

It too was the right shock. Are left and right different, and if so, why are the right ones going?

Saga of the leaking shock
