Leaving Ssr with dead battery

If you are gone for 6 months...is there any problem leaving your SSr sitting with a dead battery for 5 months before changing it? Does it do any harm to the truck???

Just remember the window indexing. If the doors are closed, the windows are indexed up tight and if the battery goes dead, you can rip the seals trying to open the doors.

When you close your doors the windows go up about 1/4+ inch tigh into the seal...when you pull the door handle they go down that sme amount to allow the door to open without catching the seals.

Personally, I would never leave any of my vehicles even overnight without a charged battery!

I agree and they make such easy to use (and inexpensive) battery tenders nowadays. I even saw a model that plugged into the cig lighter. I have a tiny one mounted in the engine compartment of the 64 vette that is computer controlled so you never worry about over charging etc!

My 2004 Slingshot Yellow sat in climate controlled Maximus storage for almost 8 mos with a Battery Tender hooked up and in May when I went to bring Her home there was absolutly no problems. Started right up and ran like Doll. Nitonized tires only lost 2lbs on left front only, other three were A-OK. I still have original battery in vehicle. Bought my Battery Tender on line.Batterytender.com - Home of All Your Charging Needs Also used one for Son's Audi.

Wayneman said in another thread, he already did the battery tender and neighbor's help, before he left the truck 6 weeks ago.

The question now is, the battery has died and does he have to get someone to deal with it, or can he wait till he gets back there in 5 months.

I'd say, don't worry about the dead battery doing any damage, just plan on replacing it when you get back.
