RRR, Piston slap is not the most likely problem, because p/s would still be there ALL the time running. I found the same problem only occures on mine with the use of cheaper oil filters. Even though our SSR filters are mounted straight up, they are very small by volume held and the better the check valve in the filter, the less tap I get on start up. I do my own oil changes, and I found that the "Mobil 1" oil filters made less tapping for a longer period of mileage. I still do an O/C every 3,500 miles anyway! What filter are you running? Just my 2cents.....
