lowering

ok guys ....i'm new here and have already recieved help from some great members. i have been researching this lowering thing and know it stirs a lot of passion in the forums. i'm a nascar machinist and fabracator and scratchbuild high end harleys. i want to do the 2'' frt and 3' rear drop. seems to me that the djm trailblazer kit that uses the stock bilstein strut and the lower shortened strut mount and a arms is a great way to go. i didn't see any thing about using this kit in the threads...did i miss it or is there a problem? i don't want to cause hard feelings or piss anybody off. the back is easy with springs and shocks ...just seems like that djm kit will do the ftont with no issues. what am i missing? thanks !!

Different

I am not knowledgeable about the front end, but I read somewhere that yes, the frame is a modified (shortened) Trailblazer Extended, but the front arms are are different and special to the SSR.

Well Mike....

Speaking from EXPERIENCE here with a rig LOWERED CORRECTLY, the DJM arms NEED to be machined (clearance) to work. Once done, they bolt right in. You can get a set already done (modified) from Tony at NORCAL SS, who I might add....Is a GREAT GUY ....

Or you can use your machining skills and do your own. As far a pissing in everyone's Corn Flakes..... Go right ahead .... I eat Oat Meal

Welcome to the group from South Florida, as you have already seen, all your questions can be answered here by someone; you can check my pictures and see what the 2" front & 4" rear will make your truck sit like; however, I am now back to the 3" rear, you also mentioned Nascar & Harley's, "you are among friends!"; are you in N.C.?

Some post from this site.

Of all the comments in this thread, I agree with this one.........This all started with some one ----------- taking a socalled paint brush and painting everything in sight with it............In reality this problem comes into play when you over do the lowering.........Those who take a Eibach .....Ground Force.......or others kit, and decide it isn't enough and start whacking on the coils....Could be in for trouble.....Most of these people think that lowering involves cutting the springs only.........they think that if they can stand the stiffness of the ride ....it's ok....this idea can put you in harms way.......But thats your choice.........Oh and BTW Iv'e seen more that one set of DJM arms collapse, now who's fault that was, I have no idea..........Just because you correct the balljoint angle, doesn't mean that a poor welding job, won't dump a front corner on the ground.......What seems a little questionable is that after 5 years of Eibach and Ground Force being engineered and sold, we just now hear this from someone that wants you to buy a full DJM kit...........Makes me wonder. My 5 cents worth......Wolfie

I just installed the DJM front kit and the A-arms hit in the top the inner fender. I still am using the stock springs. Can anyone HELP ME.

I read many threads on Colorado and Dakota truck sites for months about problems with the DJM control arms breaking at the welds.Thats why I wouldn't go with them.Their control arms just dont look sturdy enough for me.Until someone welds some more meat on those things I'm not sold.I'll stick with my Belltech springs only. And I personally dont want stock springs on my SSR no matter what the ride hight.I like a stiffer spring.

Just need to work on a thinner design that wont need modding of the fenderwells to make work. Right now the DJM front upper a arm to make work you have to notch out the wells because they are so shallow. Also the tbss that ran 9.0 is running the djm uppers i sold him and the truck wheelies on them and no issues

we have a issue cause the fenderwells. if we go with a thinner design it wont set the balljoint angle str8 like i put up in the above pic.

we are seeing if we can put the mount on the outisde of the a arm not on top so it reduces height
