Even after re-closing the Passenger door several times my Display says "PASSENGER DOOR AJAR". I have tried putting some grease on the mechanism that latches onto the door thinking it maybe wasn't retracting fully.
However, this did not work and leads me to believe it is a switch within the door trim that is malfunctioning.
Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome from one of the SoCal Nuts. I am sure someone will provide the answer to your question, but my guess is there is a plug inside the door which may have come loose. Does your right hand mirror adjustment work? That might be a clue. I cannot recall where the switch is but I do beliex=ve it is in the latch on the door, not the door jamb, and that allows the doors to be proped open without the lights staying on for shows, etc.
Good luck, and let us know where you are located and a bit about your SSR.

My right hand mirror adjustment works perfectly. Another problem I am having is that the window doesn't automatically go up or down to coincide with the opening and closing of the door like the Driver side window does. This also leads me to believe it is definitely a switch that is not reading whether or not the door is being opened or closed.
My SSR is a 2006 Aqua Blue. The paint is just beautiful. It seems to change from a dark greenish to bright blue depending on where it is with accordance to the sun. Fully loaded with chrome rims and interior! This beast is a blast to drive....and the convertible hardtop isn't bad to boot hehe.
I am located East of Atlanta, Georgia in Snellville.
Thanks for your help so far and I hope we can get to the bottom of this!
Your door ajar switch is part of your door lock/latch assembly. It is most likly in need of a new lock/latch or a good cleaning. BUT I WOULD LOOK INTO IT MORE AS I HAVE YET TO SELL ONE.

I had a similar problem. The passenger side window would not drop when opening. I was told that it could be the battery, the ignition switch or the door latch. I replaced the battery and the ignition switch but that did not fix the problem. I then took it to a dealership and they put it on the machine and it diagnosed the problem as the door latch. The sensor was indicating the door was open. I had them replace the latch this week and the problem is fixed. I have a 2005 yellow SSR. Hope this helps...good luck. Tiz
Yes, my SSR is out of warranty. My display light did not read that the Door is Ajar. The window would not drop when you open the door. However; when the dealership placed it on the machine and diagnosed it...it indicated the door was ajar but it wasn't. They charged the following:
Labor to diagnose $ 69.95
Labor to fix $153.00
Part $131.89
Sales Tax $ 20.58
It did fix it and it works fine now. Hope this helps.

Hi
I am looking for a driver side door switch, My SSR has had a problem with the driver window cylcling with the door open/close function. Now the window stays down and the message door ajar comes up. The alarm wont set and the interior light won't go out like nomal. Do you have the driver side door switch.
Tony, Golfer2 is back in Florida and was at Dicktator garage this afternoon.
Door would not open well, very hard to pull handle. Window would not index.
Took door apart, straightened the throw rod from the inside handle to the door latch. Also remove rod between outside door handle and latch, made two turns counterclockwise to adjust the throw to the latch.
Oiled latch, cleaned switch connection and back in business.
I assume that you have indexed the window. If not, put the window up, hold the switch up for 5 seconds, lower the window, hold the switch down for 5 seconds. Raise window and try opening the door and see if the window lowers slightly to clear the molding.

We are not certain we have it. Only time will tell.
Tony worked on the connector, near latch, and the windows started to index again. We had gone thru the indexing procedure several times, to no avail. The connector seemed to be the problem.
It is somewhat exposed to the elements, i.e. rain, car wash etc.
Adjusting the rods, per the Manual, helped with the open/close problem but may have to put in new switch.
Sorry I don't have any pictures, it was 45 below zero when we were doing this in my driveway. OKay, it was 45 below in Florida Weather. It was only 62 out and I was freezing. Tony thought it was Okay!
when i got home from the dictators garage, the window would not index back up. closed door several times and the windw would not index up. i said the hell with it started to walk into the house, hit the door lock button on the key fob and the window indexed up. now will not index down or up. just trying to figure out the next move.
