Factory shafts are all aluminum. Dynotech builds high performance replacements, for the SSR, that are higher quality and most likely cheaper than the originals. Contact is Jim Villipondo and # is 248 362 2777, located in Troy MI.

Carbon fiber works great. I have been running one for 5+ years.

Removed the 4" aluminum driveshaft and installed a steel 3.5" unit. I know there is a difference in the rotating inertia and is probably detrimental to gas mileage and performance, but it is a lot smoother.

I have a feeling a lot of owners are oblivious to car forums, until they have a problem and start Googling for help. Somebody looking for help with an SSR is bound to end up here. Now they're in a panic because their baby is broke, and don't have the patience to learn their way around the site. Like the old saw, "Mistakes were made"... I speak from experience.

Original driveshafts from the factory are aluminum - Aluminum is good.

Replacement driveshafts are aluminum, steel and carbon fiber - all are good.

What is your issue with the driveshaft?

We'll be happy to help, but you have to give us a problem statement to work with......

Regards,

Mike

I put away my turbine engine Development Engineer hat a long time ago. It's not near as satisfying as the Customer Support Engineer hat. The Customer Support Engineer knows that once he understands the problem, the fix will be easy..... mostly because the thing he is trying to fix was once working perfectly and now has an identifiable set of symptoms that will lead to the root cause. It's all very simple.....

The thing that is critical in all of this is that we start with an identifiable problem. I don't like to work on control system issues where the pilot reports "the engine speed was too low" and offers no other info...... like airspeed, altitude, outside air temp, power setting, cabin bleed configuration, engine sync condition...... let alone actual numbers for the two engine spool speeds, burner temp and fuel flow. Things are so much easier when they push the "event" button and capture digital data that I can replay and understand what happened.

In order to be able to give support, I have to know what is broke........
