Superchips announces the release of their all-new Tirepaq part number 2816 for 1996-2007 gas-powered GM, V8 trucks and SUVs. The Tirepaq electronically corrects the vehicle’s speedometer to compensate for non-stock tires, wheels and rear-end gear swaps. It also intelligently adjusts shift patterns to improve drivability when aftermarket tires, wheels, and gears are installed. The Superchips unit is never out of date, as consumers can update their Tirepaq via the internet.
The Tirepaq programmer can also be used to retrieve and clear those annoying "check engine" lights. Now users can retrieve information about check engine lights to determine when an inconvenient trip to the dealer is really needed.
The Tirepaq programmer can be upgraded for an additional charge to become the Superchips Flashpaq performance programmer. Upgrading provides multiple performance tuning levels and nearly one dozen user adjustable settings.
•Calibrates speedometer and adjusts shift points for non-stock tires and rear gear swaps
•Reads and clears "check engine lights" (DTCs)
•Upgradeable to a Superchips Flashpaq performance programmer for an additional charge
•Tire height coverage 26" - 38"
•Gear Ratio coverage 3.42, 3.73, 4.10, 4.56 & 4.88
Thoughts?? Real deal?? Anyone have any experience with this? Everything I have read says that none of the microtuners will do this.
Thanks for any advice,
PUG

I sent Bryan an email to see if I could drive to him (about 150 miles from my house to Indiana, PA) if he could do a Saturday tune. I have to get the gears and get them in at this point, but I am about to order the gears and have things lined up at the garage.
I quess as far as being the guinea pig, I guess if it doesn't work I can always return it. I would rather go with Bryan, but removing computer etc. vs "Plug-n-Play" in my garage is worth something.
I found the new Superchips 2865 Flashpaq tuner for $295.26 w/free shipping (www.truckcustomizers.com cheapest I've found) which is supposed to correct speedo for gear and tire changes along with performance tune. I would hope they wouldn't list that as a new feature if it could not do it.(prior ones listed it as a function of the tuner, but when you checked it was not a function for the '05-'06 as we all know). This one claims to work on all.
Still hoping for feedback from someone on forum who has tried it.

Reason: Add details
My SSR: '03 RED vin1337, '06(lastoneinblack) vin 24107..Sadly sold '04UV,'05SILVER,'06PACBLU FPR
SuperChips CORTEX 2960 does ALL GM 96 and up. Three tunes, tire and gear corrections, Diagnostics, Clears codes. Can be bought for $369 AND is upgradeable. Just a thought.

I'm not sure what the difference is between the 2865 and the 2960. Both seem to do the same thing and both are upgradeable. 2865 is about $40 cheaper. That's not a big deal if there is an advantage for the extra $$.
This is why I have not ordered one just yet. I want to make sure I'm getting the "right" one. As long as it does the speedo it should be fine as I have read many posts that folks in general are happy with the performance gains.
Between the switch to the 410 rear and a new tune, she should be a little more spunky....
Keep it coming, I'm learning a lot.
I will post whichever tuner I get and if it works or not. That is provided I do not go to Bryan. I like the idea of the programmer as I have a Yukon I could use it on as well....we will see.

Going to pcmforless bryan for tune
I seem to be getting a lot of "not sure" stuff coming from vendors who sell the Superchips microtuners. Got a reply from Bryan Herter at pcmforless on Sunday. I'm driving to his shop after the gear change and letting him do the tune. I've heard plenty of great things from many fanatics about his work.
Gears are on the way!!! I can smell the smoke already!!

I'm sure you'll be very happy. The old Superchips and Diablo Sport both said they could do the fix but I never heard of anyone actually accomplishing it. I even went to Diablo and the tech guys there couldn't do it either...
Now start saving your new tire $.... Tell Bryan to give you a "hot" tune.

Bryan returned email, his tune does not effect emissions so all is good.
My is not under warranty so it NEVER sees a dealer. I'm sure there are some good mechanics at some dealerships, but most I've seen plug into the computer, it tells them what part to replace, they replace it, and that is the "repair".
I stick with private garages where they make their living actually fixing things or they would be out of business. Otherwise I do it myself. All the warranty work I've had done from my last several vehicles has scared me to death of the dealerships. I'd hate to be paying the bill for something to be "fixed" 3 times before it was actually fixed.
I can say that there are some great mechanics working at several dealerships where I moved from 8 years ago. The problem is that they are several hours away at this point.
Thanks xoxoxoBruce good point about the reflash.

Thanks Bronco,
I actually got some other feedback to the same effect as well after doing some calling. I like the idea of having the flashpaq in my hands, but I wonder if I'm ever going to mess with it after the tune is done. I could return the SSR to stock and then program the Yukon and then switch it back to the SSR but I know that I'm not going to mess with that, at least not after the novelty of being able to do it wears off.
In the end, I know I'm probably going to "set it & forget it" as far as the tune and just enjoy the SSR. Hopefully the 4.10's and Bryan's tune will keep it all good!!

IT WORKS!!!! I think I ordered the less expensive one to just change the speedo. It came up with tire size and rear end. Did not know tire size, in inches across, so just set to 4:56 seemed to work but now at 60mph I am just pulling 1800 RPM does not sound right. I believe I need 2100 rpm at 60 mph with a 4:56. Can tire size make that much difference? Any opinions.

A 10% change in gear ratio or tire size is still a 10% change. Speedometer would be affected accordingly.
