Question Oil Leak...Power Steering Pump?

Noticed my '03 dripped some oil from the left side up front. Checked the Power Steering and it was down a little bit. Is this an easy fix or one of those things you let someone else do it with the right tools? If I can do it, how about step by step instructions. I build and repair old street rods but not into this newer stuff.

Click on my camera down on the left and see some of my old stuff I've built and still own.

All imput greatly appreciated. Thank you

Well, if you're into rods it should be a piece of cake. Since most people don't put many miles on these things it's rare to hear one going bad so I think you are one of the few that have to deal with something like this.

I would think that if you are seeing oil on the ground it's probably a seal on the rack or the pump. Shouldn't take long and be straight forward repair for either one, just messy. Make sure you check all the fluid fittings before you get into it too deep first though, might have a loose one somewhere. Sure wouldn't want to replace something that isn't bad.

Here's a previous post that might help: Power Steering Pump Replacement

Good luck

Thank you for the imput. I had it on the lift this morning and the pump, reservoir, front pulley on the pump and all the rack fittings are bone dry with no evidence of ever leaking. I traced the two lines from the sterring box to the pump. I can see the one line that goes to the top of the front casting on the pump and it is bone dry. I traced the other line from the same area (they run together) but I can't see only about 1/2 of the line as it goes down and must go into the side of the pump. It is located under a ton of wiring harnesses etc. That seems that this must be the area of a small leak.

I added about 1 ounce or less to the reservoir to bring it back to the full mark. I'll keep an eye on it!!!!
