Are you sure it's not water spots? I get them on the Pac Blues regularly - the only way I've found to get rid of them is to buff them out.

Paint Clouding

Thanks Doug I tried hand buffing, it didnt have any effect, I had it at the dealer and they are checking on warranty.

Your spotting comment is interesting as the dealer washed the car last week after service, when i got it home it had water spots all over it but they wiped off with a wet towel. I noticed the clouding 3 or 4 days later on the lower part off the hood.but larger then the water spots.

I read somewhere on this site or on another site where clouding like that can be due to moisture getting under the clear coat. I can't remember what the solution was other than have is wet sanded and re-clear coated. Let us know what you find out!

Yes I had a simalar problem. My SSR is silver & had a spot just above my head, & it was the size of a basketball & just did'nt match & was very dull. The origanal dealer , Sing chevy in Riverside,CA.,would not fix it . 1 year ,1 mounth,& 1 day after I bought my SSR , the dealership in Hemet. fixed it for me. I'm just sorry I didn't buy my SSR there. My advice is to try a different dealer, & talk to the owner about the paint warranty. P.M. WOW_FCTR & ask about the details of the paint warranty, He should have anything you need on that subject.

My came from Colorado. It had clouded spots on the front of the hood towards the grill. They would not come off with my Zaino. I went to a paint shop and they said it was moisture trapped and to get a heat gun or even a good pistol type blowdryer and blow the hot air for about 10 minutes. I used a blowdryer and it took a good 15 minutes and the clouded spots are gone..

I had posted and asked about this problem on my 06 silver. I too used a heat gun slowly circling the area and the fogging disappeared. Turns out it was indeed moisture under the clear coat. Just make sure that you don't over do the heat (I am sure you knew that already, but a heat gun gets much hotter than a hair drier.) Turns out to be a problem with sitting water or car covers that are left on with moisture trapped underneath. It has never reappeared. Good Luck with it.

Paint Clouding

Thanks to paint clouding info by fanatics I suspect my clouded spot problem on the hood was caused by using a Bra. I didnt drive the SSR in the rain but it sat overnight outside and with a heavy dew, moisture must have run down under the bra and the heat from the engine and sun must have went to work on the clear coat as indicated by a fanatic on his black SSR. When I pulled the bra off in the garage I didnt notice the clouding. but noticed it several days later, what a puzzel, didnt have a clue it was moisture. I am going to try exposing the hood to sun as suggested and then try the heat gun if needed. I will post the results.

Paint Clouding

Hey Rod Run Rod Not just one cloud over my head, we always have many here in Seattle, its that way sept thru june and some in july and august, dont use a lot of sun block thats for sure but we do spend a buck or two on umbrellas.

I think I have found a solution from a few Fanatics that were kind enough to help out. The heat on the cloudy spots seems to be working with a hair dryer but it is slow so I will look for a heat gun.
