Unhappy Pasenger door latch adjustment

Is there a way to adjust the door latch to make the door close tighter? It now rattles and can be moved in and out 1/8 of an inch with the door closed. This SSr hasn't been in an accident, just need a little advice on door adjustment of latch assembly. THanks PASSENGER has 2 s's just like ssr ,I should have used spell check!

You can loosen the two bolts that hold the sticker in place.
Snug them and then close the door .

Open the door and tighten the screws.

Angry door adjustment

I tried your answer and it did not move. I returned the car to a local Chevy dealer and he said there is no adjustment, it's simply the way they are made, he quoted " it's just another reason they quit making the SSR.

Just one more reason not to go to back to that Chevy Dealer EVER!

The "Chevy Dealer" does't know what he is talking about! Go to your local Parts Store and buy the size tool that fits the bolt head. It looks like an eight sided Phillips Screw Driver with a flat end, fits on your 3/8" drive socket rachet. Loosen the bolts and plate with WD-40 before loosening.

I adjusted the doors on my 2004. 10 minutes.

Cool door adjustment-

im slowly shaking my head with your response from the dealer that
no adjustment was possible on your R door. When you think you heard just about the stupidest thing you can, something else(like this!) comes along. The service writer or tech must be young or new or unable to mouth the phrase-"gosh,i dont know but ill find out!" and just blurted out his response as to no adjustment, etc. Once its taken care of as recommended,i would go to the dealer and find the SERVICE MANAGER and point out the error of the tech.

It's stupid comments like this that give the SSR a bad rep. I'm still trying to figure out all the bad press about the SSR being "under powered." As compared to what? If I wanted a hot rod I'd buy something lighter. I don't think this truck was designed to be a hot rod, more of a cruiser. Go figure.

Passenger Door Adjustment

I tried to adjust the latch myself also, the tool you referred to is called a TORX screwdriver. I loosened the striker bolts and it will absolutely not move, as I was told and it seems to be true some of them are welded on the inside and can't be adjusted?????? THe dealer I went to was JEFF DRENNEN CHEVROLET in Zanesville, Ohio, Ph. 740-452-4579 or 740-452-3611 or Welcome to the online home of the Jeff Drennen Dealerships, located in Coshocton, and Zanesville, Ohio.. I love this SSR and in no way was I putting it down, I was just quoting the maint. tech. I'm still looking for a solution, short of removing the interior door jam cover to see what is exactly wrong, but this 05 with 4400 miles on it, is still under warranty and I don't want to affect the warranty. Thanks for the help, and if you'd like to give Jeff a call or e-mail fell free to do so.

Hmmmm, I doubt that they welded them in, they likely used a glue of some sort during assembly process or maybe the paint was wet and you might need to break the bond. Just a guess, but for an area that needs to be adjusted during assembly it would sure seem odd to weld it ...............
