Plastic Radiator Support

Hit Raccoon, OUCH!

Dennie Eaves, IRB Dennie, Indian Rocks Beach, Fl, called me after he hit a Raccoon with his SSR. He was going to work the other morning when a Raccoon dashed out of the darkness into the path of his R. He said it was a small one.

I had one Mike in AZ STEEL Radiator Supports left from the supply that Mike lets me keep in Florida for the East Coast SSR’s.

If he had a chin spoiler or a steel support, he probably would not have had as much damage, if any.

Here are the pictures of what is left of his Plastic Radiator Support, plus the bent radiator cores. We straightened them as best we could and installed the NEW Steel Support.

If you still have a plastic radiator support, you may want to think about a change.

I have one and it helps to tighten the steering, even with goodyears. If you install it yourself make sure to support the radiator before removing the plastic support. Mike in AZ makes first class products for our SSR's.

All you have to do is tie up the top of the radiator with a couple of wire-tys, to keep it located in the top supports, while you change out the support. It's a piece of cake, and such a biiiiig improvement in the front end, everyone should do it.

If you DRIVE your SSR, and it is not a garage queen, Mikey's steel radiator support is a must do upgrade.

After you install one of Mike's steel radiator support, which is cheaper than plastic P.O.S., you need to install one of Mike's air dams, which you bolt to the steel radiator support instead of using the push pins. mI have several of Mike's products on my SSR. They are all first class.

Holy Cats, Dick......

With Dick selling them for me at tech sessions and the like, They have been selling faster than normal for the last month or more. I hope you guys can all be patient for a week or two. I am picking up the "batch" I ordered 10 weeks ago from the fabricator on Tuesday and they will take aboout a week to get through the powder coater. As of yesterday, I am OUT...... until the 25th.

Sorry for the bad news on delivery, but I was only off by about a week........ This batch should last me about a year.

Regards,

Mike

Sorry I cleaned you out Mike, NOT!

I feel the same as Doug Allen, changing the radiator support is a "Must Do" for any one who drives their "R" at all.

BUT, Mike has said and I agree, that if you have a Chin Spoiler, you have, by the nature of the install, stiffened the front plastic radiator support.

Improves tire wear also.
