Question: Removing Steering Wheel Cover

I am attempting to replace my ignition switch before it goes bad. I have the instructions & followed.

I looked up under the steering wheel and find 3 holes but they do not have any torx bolts that I can see -- I have a 2005. The real problem is I cannot seem to remove the bottom steering wheel cover. I pull down as hard as I can but it doesn't move at all when I push it forward. Two of us tried but no cigar. When I pull down it only drops less then a quarter of an inch. I pulled down so hard the tips of my fingers hurt & I didn't want to break something. What am I missing?

Thanks...Dave

Mine is a 2005 also and I found no torx screws either. Maybe someone serviced the switch before and didn't feel the need to replace the screws. I pulled down the back and it dropped a little over a 1/4 inch. The instructions said to slide forward and I was taking that literally and pushing toward the front of the truck. On my cover, you need to pull the bottom toward you (i.e. toward the rear of the truck).

Here ya go,

There may be torx screws or not, look underneath to make sure.

By the way, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Carry the spare ignition switch in your R, along with the instructions. A new switch may be bad.....

Got it!! Geez, that thing is on there really tight. I pulled the back down & then pulled toward the rear of the truck. I don't understand how some changed out the ignition switch in 20 minutes -- it took me over 20 minutes to get that damn cover off.

Thanks!!!!!
