You don't need access to battery for jumping or maintain charge
The battery of your SSR is located on the rear underside of the vehicle next to rear passenger tire. BUT There are remote positive (+) and negative (-) terminals located under the hood for maintaining the charge or jumping a dead battery. The remote positve terminal is located in the red box marked battery and the remote negative terminal is in the engine compartment near the steering fluid reservoir and adjacent to the altenator. It is Marked GND (-) which is the ground- negative area to connect the cable. See the photos in section 5 of owners manual. I highly recomend the Deltran Battery Tender Plus. It is designed to fully charge a battery and maintain it at proper storage voltage without the damaging effects caused by trickle chargers. I also like the quick disconnect harness that came with it. Bought from ebay....

I thought if there was a drain, (like the door ajar), with the key off, the computer would kill the drain?
I had a lock mechanism ice up and had to drive home with the door ajar message on the DIC, and the interior light on, although the door was latched. Then I had to drive it back and forth to work like that for three days before I could get the lock thawed. Once I turned the key off and closed the door, the interior light turned off in about 10 minutes each time.

YES
Thats correct.
The red box is not a fuse box. Its a battery terminal box. Note it says battery on it. One cable comes in from the battery and one goes to the engine. Please consult your manual for the rest of the locations of your fuse boxes. Also checking in the ''Library''. Sometimes you will have to index the windows after a power outage. Read the sticky on the 'windows'. Have fun. Permagrin for you.

Thanks again for helping me confirm I got it right!
"The red box is not a fuse box."
This I know - but originally looking for the battery I opened the compartment to the right side to the power steering fluid filler as seen in photo # 1 above.
That black box looks like a cover for a battery. Inside that cover are terminals that look just like battery terminals!
As seen HERE - but I learned this is WRONG WRONG WRONG!
I did run the trickle charge on this for a little while before taking it off - hopefully I didn't do anything bad.

Even though the - NEG isn't really clear I'm guessing they want you to clamp onto the engine metal where the arrow points - as I show here??
You got it right. You NEVER want to jump to the Fuse box. Although the Battery Tender connection to the FUse Box might be OK I think a better option is presented by Doophus, or do it the way I do with a connection to the Red jumper box and the frame.
