Has anyone removed the drop down compartment under the rear cover ? I was wondering if it has to be riveted back in place or can it be screwed back in. Will the bracket under the cover stay in place if you drill out the rivets.
The cover over the bed of the truck, on the underside when covered has a compartment that swings down, just wondering if anyone has taken it out it is put in with rivets.
Haven't removed mine, haven't even considered it although I don't use it for anything (others put tools, etc in it). Not all the trucks have it but I'm curious what you're going to do with the space.
Thanks guys but no one answered my question can it be taken down by drilling out the rivets then putting it back, will the bracket stay in place once it's been drilled out, is the bracket made to the cover
The "door" appears to have a "doubler" rivited to the inside, so that there is the hinge, door, and the doubler, and the rivet goes thru all 3 pieces. I am guessing the side that is riveted to the "lid" has a doubler also. If that is the case, you will need to replace that when you re-assemble. You'll probably want to remove the whole trunk lid covering to drill out those 3 rivets. Peel back the covering inside the door at the hinge and you'll see the doubler (strap) where the rivet is "bucked".... Hope this is your answer...
