Rear sway bar hitting rear end housing
I have an 06 six speed with the 14 bolt rear end. It has Eibach 1" rear lowering springs. I just installed a new Addco rear sway bar and it hits on the center of the rear end housing when going in and out of driveways etc. Has anyone else had this problem that has my situation of the 1" lowering springs?
You dropped springs are not the problem, with the 6 speed rear the sway bar has been known to hit the rear diff. Hotchkis redesigned their rear bar for this exact reason. Personaly I would change out the bar with the Hotchkis set front and rear, as they are the only one I kknow of that has redesigned the rear bar to clear the 6 speed rear.
Hi,
I recently did a GP for the group here for Custom Adjustable Anti-Swaybar End Links. Are you using the stock dogbone style end links with ADDCO Bars? If this is the issue, then the adjustable endlinks should let you use the ADDCO Bars, but having dropped the truck may be a bit of an issue.
I certainley would go with the advice of scrapping what you have and using Hotchkis Bars Front and Rear. They will not perform as well as the ADDCO with adjustable end links.
Also one other tidbit of information ADDCO did change their swaybar design a bit and the model number changed too. The correct part numbers for the ADDCO Bars are #2210 for the front, and #2211 for the rear, check it out. If you do PM me for any reason, please include you regular e-mail address, Thanks.

Only the first run of the bars should be the 'old' configuration. To get one of those on a 6 speed is not too likely. I'd suggest a call to Hotchkis to see if they can help you out.

Really???? I suppose you have data and evidence to support this claim?
Take a close look at the rubber mounts for the rear sway bar. Your mounts may have elongated and allowed the bar to migrate toward the pumpkin. The sway bar is designed to clear the rear axle under all conditions. This includes bottoming the suspension and topping out the suspension. If it is touching the axle, then something is not right. Changing the end links will just add another variable into the mix and possibly mask the real issue.
Bottom line here....... either the rubber mounts are dead or your sway bar is not bent correctly. Check with your supplier to see what they offer to solve the issue.

YES, Really! If you like, go search and look it up on this forum, I spent many hours doing all the equations to determine the best combination for our SSR's and just completeing the GP in the last month or so.
The combination of the ADDCO and the Custom Adjustable End Links actually came out to 391% better than the Stock set up. I am not going to get into the exact number for the Hotchkiss setup, but ADDCO was at least 40-50% better than the Hotchkiss figures, based on all the different equations.
If anyone who was in on the GP wants to chime in, and express their opinion , feel free. I am not going to get into anything pissing contest, as I am just trying to assit with the issue at hand.

Not trying to get into a pissing contest. Just would like to see data. Maybe you could provide a spreadsheet to show your calculations.
My SSR: 04 yellow #13371(sold) new 06 silver over black #22833
Got the new addco bars. and endlinks for my 6-speed. No the bar is not hitting the rearend. i will measure the clearance tommorrow. My truck is not lowered.
Just got back from a cruise at the Summit Racing store here in Ga. Rode home with the top down. It reminds me of how much I like my truck. Its dark, the stars are out, Hotel Cailfornia on the radio, it don't get much better than that. I don't know which bars are better but I do know this set up with the bars and adjustable endlinks work great for me. I appreciate the effort that was put into this group buy for the addco bars. Chill out ,relax and enjoy what you have. Addco or Hotchkis!
