Replace Seats

I can't go more than a 100 miles without my hip and back killing me. Has anyone replaced their seats with better ones?

I found the solution to be getting the stuff out of my back pockets, then I can drive a full tank of gas to nearly empty.

I sit on a pillow that evens out the seat bottom and top of the side bolsters, it makes a big difference to me. Also, raising the gas pedal a few inches opens up some foot room on the right side. There are a couple of threads on how to do this mod.

back pain

I consider myself somewhat of an expert on back pain or at the very least well experienced. I have an implanted electronic pulse generator to quell Sciatic nerve pain but my lower back is total wreck from a snowmobile incident back in 66' (last century for you young punks) and then 30+ years of farming on top of that.
I like Greg first of all had to flatten out the seat bottom to get away from the side bolster pressing on my Sciatic Nerve the instant I sat down. This is accomplished with some good quality (high density) foam and an electric carving knife so sculpt and shape. If you are not troubled with Sciatic leg pain you don't need to do anything with the lower seat cushion.
Now for the upper back. I have now for 20 years used the Obus Forme Ultra Forme Backrest Support. The factory seats in nearly all North American produced vehicles have a depression in the middle of the backrest rather than helping maintain the natural curvature (and support) of the spine. I simply cannot go any distance at all without my back support. I first used the Obus Forme beginning in 1987 and have great relief with them ever since. I don't know if the Obus is a Canadian only made product but either way they work and are well made and wear for years and years and years. I gave mine a real workout over the years that I used to farm and they are still in good shape. PM me if you can't find them on the web.
Richard

My wife uses a jell cushion that is made for wheel chairs. It helps her quite a bit. You can get one a a medical supply store.

Maybe if you take the supercharger out of your lap? You are going to be missed, Rebel.
