Roof half full or half down?

The roof is hydraulic, so when you turn the power off to the vehicle, the roof will apply pressure to the main chamber and allow it to slowly lower into the stowage compartment.

Now if you want to feel dangerous, make a nice chromed bar, with rubber pads on either end of it, that is the correct length to hold the roof in place where you want it, so that when you turn the power off, you start to open the roof, so that it is 1/8th open or so. Kill the power and then with two people (my suggestion to do so) manually lower the hood and place it onto the new crafted bar, and there you go. It will stay in place, and almost not even be noticeable if you make it lower than the cowl of the rear seats.

Hope that this helps

Hi All,
I'm a neebie 2004 Red SSR owner.....just added a windsuppressor, it definately makes a difference concerning wind blowback. My question is, can the top be raised and lowered with the suppressor in place? I don't want to brake anything while attempting to raise top.........

Thanks, I did copy it from an OEM, but had it made by someone who is no longer in business unfortunately. He also designed and built a non-OEM style, but alas no more...

I am getting concerned about the top header latch mechanism on my '03 SSR. Up until last year it seems that during the top down cycle both header latches released simultaneously. Lately, one side releases quicker than the other and the time between sides releasing seems to be getting longer. Top still works fine. Do I have a developing problem? Any quick fixes? Thanks

Hmmm. I have a '03 and any information supporting its preservation is important to me. I am watching for any response.

Try the ignition switch. It causes a lot of problems like that.

Roof won't go down...

Roof will not go down. Windows go down, then motor starts to start operation and after a bump the operation stops and computer says operation timed out. I checked the cargo lid carefully and disconnected the batery for thirty minutes and tried again... same thing. A/C off, brake on, lid down, tried all fixes I could find or think of. Is it time to take a trip to my dealer. First problem with my '04 roof operation!
Thanks,
Joe

Roof Operation

I have had this problem two times.,I would put the SSR in my enclosed trailer with the top down, Later When I remove it from the trailer the top will not go up.The DIC shows " Reduce Speed" while I am SITTING STILL , Foot on Brake. The way I was able to raise it was, drive it in first up to when it begins to shut down .Drove it back to the garage and the TOP WENT UP. I have tried it several time since then ,Works like a charm .

Tonneau Problems

Same problem that I'm having on my '03. With a little help lifting the tonneau, I was able to get the roof up, but when I attempted to help move the tonneau on the way down, one of the covers got scratched along the entire length.

Is this something that a dealer can fix? Even though I'm probably one of the least "economically advantaged" members here, $900 would be worth it for me because I love using the top.

I think this is a new top operation problem on this tread. Top was hitting the bottom of the roof storage area at the front outside corners and cutting the insolation . Solution- bleed hydrolic lines and pump that operate the top, per chevy house at San Angelo, Tx. 1-800-933-4953 ser.mg is Tim.Will pick up BLU*T tomorrow and ck out the top operation.

Retractible Top

Has anybody run into the problem of the Tonneau cover making a noise like the motor is operating but the Cover does not lift. It sounds like it is being locked or cought on something. I pushed the button to make sure it was closed completely and tried to open again several times. I went for a drive and got back home and tried it again and it seemed to work. Did not put all the way down because it was drizzling.

Any Help,

Thanks,

Bronco
