It'll drain by the tailgate hinge holes.

Be careful when you load the bed it has been noted that just sitting on the tailgate can cause damage.

I have a hard time understanding that, I've had 500 lbs on my tailgate. That's sitting still, of course, not driving it.

I always reserve the right to be wrong . JimG's book says that the tailgate isn't designed to be load bearing but after searching I see tons of people saying they have sat on theirs with out issue. I guess if it's safe for sitting it's safe to throw in some astro truff.

I have to admit that I have "climbed" on my tailgate on several occasions. Seems pretty sturdy to me.

I know I have put a couple of big butts on it and it held up just fine!

That it wasn't designed to be load bearing doesn't not mean it can not bear a load. I treat mine like the truck it is, and my tail gate bears quite a load!
