SSR problems

Is anyone tired of all the problems with the SSR. I have a 2004 that is always in the shop. I dread one the warranty runs out I will not have the funds to keep up with it.
I suppose its' assuring to know I don't have a lemon after reading all these threads.

Time out cycles are out of this world. Finally it was found that the cylinders/shocks are worn out the parts have been on order for 3 weeks. Meanwhile I cannot open the truck bed as the top is rubbing the panel.
my radio buttons are wearing off also
starter has been replaced
rear seals have been replaced as they leaked.
all of the weather striping has been replaced 2 times and the windows still leak
The truck bed seal actually fixed that leak, silicone was applied throughout.
paint is wearing
rattles and the dealer cannot find the problem
the air conditioner has been fixed 3 times.
when the phone charger is placed in the extra outlets the radio goes extremely low (can't hear it). 3 different dealers cannot find a fix.

I have spoken with Chevy’s service departments and mechanics, which confirm that the SSR's are a problem.

We should speak up and take action with GM so they can be accountable to fix their responsibility rather than us after the warranty.

I love my car, just want it to be problem free for once.

Talking So Sorry

So Sorry to here of those problems. I have had a various amount of problems bu all small other than the fan wich they fixed right away. I have had no leaks as of yet. The time out problem occurs once in a while for the top, I have heard from other members of this site that this could be caused by the rear lid being out of alignment, havn't adjusted it yet. Hope you solve all these issues before the waranty runs out , that is why I have extended my waranty.

20K miles. I'm with ya on the 4:30 on friday. maybe I should have picked another color. Rear lid has been adjusted many times. It is very easy to misalign, just lean on it. The hydraulic bushing that move the top up and down are on order. I understand from other threads that this will stop the roof cycle time outs. I just wonder what is next.

I'm sorry and I apologise ahead, but this vehicle is not an ordinary vehicle! That's why I stated in another thread that GM should have sold it like a used car 'no warranty. You want a cheap street rod to start with, then by an SSR. If you find things you want fix or change go right ahead it's your vehicle do want you want with it. We (GM) are only giving you a basis to start from. The fastest way to kill a vehicle production program is to have too much warranty over run. Happened to Corvair, Fiero. Has not happened to Corvette because 90% of Vette buyers are dedicated to their cars and love'm and will fix them theirselves because of that love. (I drove a '73 for 6yrs as every day driver and a '76 convert for 3 yrs as every day driver). I am happy when I read all the postings by drivers who love their SSR's, the ones that don't should just sell them and move on. Have a happy life.

I have a 2004 also and have had hardly any problems.

It sounds like many of the problems just don't have the proper repairs done to it.

I had the window leak too, they also replaced the weather strip only to find out the simple fix was to adjust the window setting inside the door. after that no leak.
I hate that you are having these issues. I guess for all of us that have had little to no problems, someone else had to all of those things we didn't get. I hope you can get this resolved quickly

Did you bother to notice that Janice (funone) joined the forum in July of 2005? She hasn't tried to sell us anything since then. Did you bother to check her prior posts? If you had, you would have seen that she has described "a better case scenario" of her vehicle. Next time you go on a witch hunt, do your homework.

I don't think it's fair to label anyone a "spammer" solely on the pretense that they do not have supporting member status or that they don't have an avatar. She is obviously frustrated by the repair history of her SSR, which is not uncommon.

There are several members of this forum who are ready to lynch anyone who complains or voices an unpopular opinion about their SSR. I see no end to this until Troy places a gripe folder in the forum. Let's "git 'er done" so this BS doesn't happen again.

Ya know I used to say the EXACT same thing about my EX. I traded her in. But I have learned and matured and I am dedicated to working at this relationship with the SSR to make it work!

Now all I need is one good woman with absolutely no taste in men!

Not to be putting my SSR down, but I have to agree with Funone 100%. I bought my SSR because I really loved the looks and the retractable hard top. I still love the looks, but the hard top thing is now available on other vehicles. The problem I have is that it's having major problems without many miles. Unfortunately, I don't put enough miles on it to work out all the problems it's going to have before the 3yr warranty runs out. The first problem was bad seals on the windows. That was fixed. The second was at 3100 miles and the rear engine seal was leaking. That was fixed. Next it was a window that wouldn't go up. That was fixed by a mess of starting and stopping the engine while trying to work the window. I just got it back after a couple days now because it had a rear engine cover leaking oil, at 4900 miles. And now it's transmission is slipping and the engine seems to stall on slow starts. This is not acceptable for a vehicle with less than 5000 miles on it. Sadly, my warranty runs out pretty soon.

Some of you will probably say that I don't drive it enough. Sure enough, I don't. It sits in the winter and rain (has NO traction in rain). And in the summer I drive the Harley when sunny or the Hummer when hauling stuff. Still, I didn't have these problems with my Vette. GM/Chev is having this 100% MRSP trade-up this weekend and I'm really thinking of getting a new Vette. It seems like a good deal since I paid over $10,000 under MSRP for it. So I'd be $10,000 ahead...right?

Sure, I suppose if I LOVED my SSR I would take care of it and fix it myself. Too bad for me I don't have an engine lift or a shop. So I guess I don't love it as much as the rest of you.

I have always wanted an old truck, but since I am not a mechanic and my husband prefers NOT to spend his weekends in the garage I finally got my truck by buying the Old but new...no problems...right? Wrong! I had planned on keeping it stock and personalizing it with a few accessories, maybe a custom paint job but decided to leave the supercharges and the like to others. Paying for the additions I wanted myself is a no-brainer but having to fork out 1-2K just so I can drive 40 miles a day in 110 degree weather is the responsiblity of the auto maker, not me.

The fact that I still have my shows how much I love it...probably more than most...so, no, I am not just going to go away! Not without a fight!

I am happy for those who have had few or no problems, sad for those who have many, thankful for forum members that have come up with 'fixes', and appreciate all who have something to say, whether I agree with you or not.
