SSR Rado Wiring Woes!

I finally set aside the time to fit my Pioneer head unit to my SSR this weekend. I had bought the AVIC D2 along with the Nucleus GM Chime harness adapter and the PAC SWI-PS adapter to retail the steering wheel controls.

The wiring appeared straightforward, but I get no sound from the new unit ... I had the Bose 6 speaker setup.

As far as I can see, the 8 speaker wires in the Nucleus harness are on pins that do not all have wires going to them on the truck harness.

Where do I go from here?

Pioneer to Bose setup

I'm having the exact same problem. I'm having a local stereo shop tackle this. I'll let you know what I find out. I have the Pioneer AVIC D3, but the wiring issue for the Bose system should be the same.

Wow, same problem

I wired the AVIC-D3 up this weekend, and no sound......WTF?!? Are we missing something? I've since given up, taking my truck into the local audio shop tomorrow for an install.

Wrong Harness

Ok, the install guys said the GMCO harness will NOT work. It'll wire up, you'll power but no sound. They have to bypass the factory amp using another amp I provided.
You still have to use the GMCO to retain warning chimes, but it doesn't do everyhing you need. You still have to bypass the factory amp to hear your chimes...
I'm looking at almost $300....

Lloger has the same unit installed in his SSR, its working, but I think he has no Bose system. However, he said these guys might know what is needed:

Pacific Accessory Corporation
800-854-3133
Santa Ana, CA

Mine is in the shop today, we'll see what they say.....

Boldly go etc....

I have dismantled my truck to where I have the Bose amp out. Does anyone have a wiring diagram of the factory Bose system, so I can patch it to my new Pioneer head unit?

Any help greatly appreciated!

I was all set to put the stereo I had in my Camaro into my and couldn't find anyone who would do it. Once I did find a place that would do it for me, my local Chevy dealer said they have only seen it done once and in order for it to work, the bypass of the factory system disables a bunch of other things that run through the factory system as well- including things like timing out on your lights if they are left on, backup voice chick, et, etc.

I haven't looked into any of it further on here by a search, but since I flew cross country instead of driving (and still don't have my truck yet), I haven't needed to. I'm sure someone here has all the answers- I eventually want too!

Good luck you all!

ok, here's the part for the Bose

OK, got the part #, it is PAC OS-2 Bose from Pacific Accessories Corporation which will work with the Bose amplifier. So, you need a total of 3 harnesses, the Bose harness, the chime harness and the steering wheel control harness.

It all seems to be working fine in mine, so I think this is the answer!

Like usual, it is really hard to find anyone who really knows how to deal with our trucks. It's a lot easier for people to say, "You can't do it", then to go and find out. I guess somebody has to be the guinea pig.....

Cool! I am going to print up this page! =)

Just out of curiosity, what stereo place did you use? Maybe I will get the components from the person who dealt with your around Christmas when I am back in San Diego.

Talk to Al at Audioland in Oceanside

Audioland is on Coast Highway in Oceanside, the number is 760-433-3800. Ask for Al and he can get the parts you need. His crew didn't know the SSR before, but they are getting familiar with it now......

I had my fitted with the Pioneer AVIC-D2 with a backup camera at

Katz Car Radio, Inc.
32 South Glebe Road
Arlington, VA 22204
(703) 979-5244

they used all three of those harnesses. End result is that chimes and steering wheel controls work. One important warning is to pull the fuse before reflashing the system.
