Steering wheel questions.

My steering wheel has enough mileage on the radio control buttons that some of the button is worn away and unsightly. Can these be changed out easily? I am also wanting to paint the satin silver bars. Can they be removed easily?
Thanks for your help,
Mick

No & NO! Seriously, the wheel has to come off to replace the switches. They must be pushed out from the backside and this cannot be done w/ the wheel in place. The shroud has to be removed 1st. The silver trim panels are HEAVILY glued in place.

What I do with ALL GRAPHICS buttons on todays 'NEW' vehicles is put a coating of clear nail polish on them!!!! Lasts forever!

Bummer...looks like I'll look for a replacement wheel and will paint it before I put it on.
Thank you for your replies,
Mick

Any idea if someone makes a touchup paint for the radio control buttons???
I have had the backlight go out on the source button next to volumne on steering wheel. do they have to take the whole steering wheel off to replace light bulb??? If so I may wait until I need other work done. Any help would be appreciated.

BTW an aquaintance of mine left Orange county for the island about four months ago so you may see a new redline you have not seen before.

Hi Larry

Light bulbs in s/w switches are a non serviceable item according to the manual. Meaning the entire 4 button switch must be replaced.

There's only 1 that I am aware of here on Maui and it is back at the used car lot at Dodge for the 2nd time. I'll keep an eye out for him.
