Strange thing going on today

Must be my day for a Black Sunday. First off I went to start the SS/R to move it out of the garage so I could clean the garage. The radio and clock did not come on. Recycled the ignition switch several times and the radio stayed dead. Checked the fuse and all was OK. Got the owners manual out and nothing of improtance to be found. Hit the Forum and nothing found. Went back to the SS/R and the radio and clock worked. Clock was out of time for about 1 hours. ( Yes I did cycle the on off switch for the radio.)

Next on the drive to the movies, the SS/R started to have a mild buck between 40 and 50 MPH.

Then we left the move I turned the key on and nothing happened. Turned the key off and right back on and all worked OK.

On the way home everything worked and ?????

Any ideas?

T

Well it is now Wednesday and the new ignition switch is installed. Now the new switch, for what ever reason, appears to give the old girl a new skip in her step. Not sure what happened, but after a day of driving around town and the interstate the SS/R has a snap of power that has been missing for sometime.
I went back to the dealership and asked them if they did anything else that may have changed the performance, and they said no, why? I told them of the new found acceleration power and after a little discussion, they think that the maybe the ignition switch was limiting the power or ground to computer and that it was failing slowly over a period of time. The new switch or the movement of wires corrected a problem?
Any .02 out there?
T

Sounds like the igniton switch. Do a search for ignition swith problems, I beleive others have had similar symptoms, replacing the switch cured the problem.

To all who have replied to my post so far. I thought it was the ignition switch also, but I wasn't positive that was my problem. So I put a post out and you all confirmed my thougts. Thanks for a great forum.

Indeed this is what it is. Seems to be a common problem.
